There's a statistic somewhere about the number of spiders and other bugs people unknowingly eat in their sleep.flojocabron wrote:if you sleep with your mouth open, you can eat any spider that gets in thereirixith wrote:AznKhmerBoi wrote:horrifying photographs![]()

The only way to deactivate the ray beam and fight back the vampire alien threat is with a complicated series of foot patterns on the device's control board that looks remarkably like a DDR pad. We will all praise this man for saving our lives and buy him a mountain of stuffed animals.

Re: 8 Most Delicious Insect Delicacies on Earth
I'm too ingrained, I'll stick to sea bugs. Although I have swallowed many small flying bugs while on 2 wheeled vehicles of the human and motor driven kind. I unwittingly ate a bunch of sugar ants too at one point. When I was at school I often took a pouch of pop tarts to my morning class to eat on break with a cup o sludge from the coffee vending machine. One particularly sleepy morning I ate half a pop tart before I felt something tickling my hand and noticed I had ants all over my breakfast and hand. They were sugar ants, so they weren't biting me. Apparently that packet had gotten a small hole and they got in. I also discovered we had many more sugar ants in the kitchen when I got home that day.

Have you personally eaten any of them?AznKhmerBoi wrote:im okay to try most except for silk worm soup of south korea and the grub from austrailia. Looks like those insects got too much juice in it lol.
I probably would be ok to try most except for the wasp crackers, grasshoppers, and the scorpions.
I have eaten snails, frog legs, soft-shelled crabs, kokoretsi (lamb heart, lungs, kidneys), and other offals except for the brains.

Personally, I think the scorpions look more edible than the rest, although I'm presuming you wouldn't eat all of it....it looks a bit tough for that. Maybe you crack it open like prawns or lobsters?
As for the rest, they all look really gross to me (so does the scorpion, but less so than the rest), but none moreso than that horrible looking wasp cracker.
When I was in thailand, they were selling fried grasshoppers or locusts and fried scorpions near my hostel. They scorpions were MUCH smaller than these ones, but the grasshoppers were about the same size. Needless to say, I didn't try them.

I guess I have a more open mind when it comes to the consumption of other living things, but I think most of those look interesting enough to try, and a couple look downright delicious. I do worry about consuming venom sacs however...is there a potential problem with that?
As for there being any that I'd say no to based on looks...probably the spiders. I'm arachnophobic, and just looking at pictures bothers me.

I'm open to the idea of eating bugs -- they're a meat substitute with a lower environmental footprint. I've eaten crickets before. Tasted kinda like...stale popcorn with a hint of grass.
I'd love to give the scorpions and the grasshoppers a try. Kind of on the fence about the grub though, maybe I'd just have to think about it as bug sushi.
