So I started Secret of Mana and the first boss (the Tiger in the witches castle, not the annoying mantis thing) is kicking my ass. I hardly feel like I haven't been grinding enough, I spent quite a lot of time running about slaying things because I didn't know where to go. The tiger's attacks seem unavoidable though - he jumps into the air and lands on either of my two partners (because he auto targets me, and they trail behind me). Nowhere in the arena seems safe from it. Then he jumps to the side and casts 100% accurate spells that completely paralyse the character they hit, as well as doing loads of damage. The game limits me to 4 healing items, so I'm not quite sure how I'm meant to kill this damn thing.
I guess I just suck :S

If you aren't enjoying the game, there's no shame in quitting. I not only gave up on Zillions, I booted it to my trade list.

See the thing is I don't really hate it as such, I just can't beat this boss. Maybe there's something I'm missing?
Re: Snickerd00dle's Summer Game Challenge 2011
Definitely something you're missing. The attacks are hard to miss, but if you're leveled up enough, and figure out his pattern, you should be able to take him down. It takes a few tries, but it is entirely possible.

@alienjesus: It is worth noting that boss is very much randomly one of the toughest bosses in the entire game. Don't give up! Level up a little if you can like o.pwuaioc suggested, and if I remember right I think stuff like the Bow can hit him sometimes when he's on the ledges on the side. Maybe try leveling up what little magic you might have right now before fighting him too.
Again, from there on the game gets a lot smoother, but yeah I remember the first time I played the game that boss was nuts. lol

....I don't have any magic right now.
I found the girl in the evil foresty place, worked through it, got to this boss. None of my characters can cast magic at all. Perhaps that's what I'm missing

Come to think of it yeah I think I recall you don't have magic at that point. Well, just grind a little if possible... hopefully a few levels makes a difference.

Jeez, I must have been half asleep when I wrote that, because it's all sorts of wrong. Grind a little in the forest, but try watching for the Tiger's movements. Also, where are your other two players on the action grid?

Haha, even though you guys were wrong about the magic thing, you did help, I stocked up on chocolate (I didn't think to buy healing items other than candy), got a level or two uner my belt and laid into the tiger. He didnt cast magic much this time, and I made sure to switch characters if i was trapped by fire or knocked unconscious. The main thing that help though I think was that I mainly played as the girl. She was the one who was weakest, being the lowest levelled and weakest armoured, and controlling her meant the computer AI didn't force me to rush through ym candies constantly healing her after she walked into the boss over and over.
I beat that dungeon, got the water spells, got the earth spells and beat the dungeon with the evil wall thing as the boss. Now I'm on my way to the dwarf place (AGAIN) to find a missing seed.
Seems lik this game likes making me visit the same places over and over.

For the first part. Trust me, once you get after the next stage, it should really start to amaze you. Glad we could get you through Elinee's Tiger. :D
