PLEASE HELP GBA BUYING

Post by RyaNtheSlayA »

I really want a micro ($75) but i could get a good condition SP for 25. Is it that much of an improvement, screen clarity is a big thing but size isnt. It can be as small or big as it can be. Also what about the backlight, the LR buttons on the SP feel flimsy. PLEASE HELP

Eh, the layout of the micro is better imho. The backlight is supposedly better on the micro, but I never had an sp.

I liked my SP well enough but I've never used a Micro so I can't comment on the comparison. One of the reasons I liked the SP was the clamshell design. It protects the screen and makes it more compact (of course not as small as the micro).

GBA Micro

Post by corn619 »

The GBA Micro has a smaller but crisper screen than the sp but the sound isn't as loud on the micro. the L/R buttons are better designed on the micro but its not much of a difference. I found the screen on the micro kind to small for me. Its better built than the sp feels more solid.

I did side by side on Micro and SP (new bright screen) when they were released, in a dark room and outside and didn't see any difference in brightness. Both looked the same, which was extremely bright. Also I do not think there is a resolution difference either, but if the micro screen has the same resolution on a smaller screen it might give you the illusion of looking crisper... but you could also hold your SP screen 5 inches further away for the same effect.

I prefer the bigger screen of the SP personally. The screen on the micro is crisp but is the size of a postage stamp. If you get an sp, make sure it is the latest model they made (pearl blue i think) the brightness of the screen is alot better.

If I see any micros around for a fair price I'll post on here.

I see them used here for anywhere from 3,000 to 6,000 yen... A lot of them are the Famicom versions too. I just never wanted one bad enough to replace the SP I have. That and I'd be paranoid about scratching the screen.
