Retro gaming with a HD CRT
Re: Retro gaming with an HD CRT
I think I'll get it, its only $30 and I'm going to get the couch anyway
. I was mainly worried about it ending up like on a LCD HD but I guess that differs in picture quality than a CRT. Thanks guys.

CRT doesn't have a native resolution so you don't get the same issue you get with LCDs. CRTs just display the content in the resolution it was intended to be viewed in. No up scaling required.BananaXX wrote:I think I'll get it, its only $30 and I'm going to get the couch anyway. At minimal it should have RF, Composite and SVideo. If you are lucky it will have Component and maybe an EDTV with 480p capabilities. Either way a great deal and all your Retro Consoles will now run without the dreaded dot crawl of LCDs.BananaXX wrote:I think I'll get it, its only $30 and I'm going to get the couch anyway. Finally bought the TV after he dropped it down to $50 for the couch, TV and TV stand, what a steal! It is a KV-36FS13. I SERIOUSLY underestimated how much the thing would weigh, took the me, the guy I bought it from and his 2 other room mates to carry the thing to my suburban. At this time I cant imagine taking it up 3 flights of stairs
, though I still have till Friday to amass an army to help me move the thing into my new place lol.

Not a HD, so even the Component input will be 480i. But Lightguns will work fine, and no more upscaling issues of the LCD.
If you think your SDTV is heavy, a same sized HD tube weighs a lot more.

Thanks for the manual. Its weird the guy kept calling it an HD TV even when I was there yet its still SD. You'd think after owning it he would have figured out that it was SD. Cant wait to enjoy a large non-scaled image!

Meh, I don't find it too odd. I once bought a TV from someone claiming it was HD even though it clearly was not. I asked them about it at the time and I was told by them that anything above a certain size was HD. Crazy.BananaXX wrote:Thanks for the manual. Teacher: Spell "couch".
Little girl: Couch. C-O-W...
Billy Madison: No!
Teacher: [to little girl] No, I'm sorry, that's not right.
Teacher: Well, Billy, if you spell this correctly you pass second grade.
Billy Madison: Couch. C-O-R, uh, are you going to the mall today?
Teacher: No I'm not goin to the mall, keep spelling, mister.
Billy Madison: C-O-U-C-H!
Teacher: Correct!
Billy Madison: I AM THE SMARTEST MAN ALIVE!

Just had a thought: when using a AV selector to maximize S-video inputs (the TV only has 1), would I notice any sort of signal loss since it has to pass from the console to the selector and then to the TV?
