Not a remake, although I can see how people are led to believe it with the title.

It's going to be a fun ride of a movie. The first act is said to be a teeny tiny bit drawn out, but for good reason. I'm guessing the final scene either involves the Statue of Liberty or Caesar speaking English...roll credits.
Its sort of a reboot/remake of the 4th film Conquest of the Planet of the Apes

I'm actually glad that they started this (hopefully) new series of Planet of the Apes films with this film than just remaking the first one again.

I think it's best to just watch it as an interpretation of the Planet of the Apes story. No need to tie this with previous movies. Just enjoy it for what it is...
Wikipedia wrote:The film is not based on the specific plotline from the original series, but instead takes elements from the earlier movies to create an original origin story.

In a segment of a video blog post, director Rupert Wyatt commented on the originality of the plot: "This is part of the mythology and it should be seen as that. It's not a continuation of the other films; it's an original story. It does satisfy the people who enjoy those films. The point of this film is to achieve that and to bring that fan base into this film exactly like Batman Begins."

In an interview a year earlier, director Rupert Wyatt allegedly said, "We've incorporated elements from ["Conquest"], in terms of how the apes begin to revolt, but this is primarily a prequel to the 1968 film... Caesar is a revolutionary figure who will be talked about by his fellow apes for centuries... This is just the first step in the evolution of the apes, and there's a lot more stories to tell after this. I imagine the next film will be about the all-out war between the apes and humans".

I don't care if their the smartest monkeys on earth or the smartest men on earth, nothing is smarter than a bullet.
Suddenly I'm thinking monkeys with guns... lol

They are stronger than us physically. So give a strong monkey a gun, and he's more than a man...

Plus monkeys know the difference between "their" and "they're".

Sorry, I had to.

Sexy? Most of her scenes involved her getting beaten or engaged in BDSM.

Lucille Bluth is in that!

And to the person who thinks Iron Man 2 is better than The Crow... are you hitting the pipe or did the pipe hit you? The Crow is a masterpiece and Iron Man 2 is just an over-the-top sequel to a movie based on a comic book that only die-hard Marvel fans read (except me), only to have its ironic success turn Iron Man into a major mainstream success, a la Thor and Fantastic 4.

I mean, hell. I'd rather watch The Crow: Wicked Prayer, which is the WORST in the series, than watch Iron Man 2. I mean, even if IM2 is twice as better as the first one, I can say that I'm speaking the truth.

And the only comic book movie I can think of that's funny, action-filled and bad-yet-very-awesome is the ultimate FTW:

And here's why:

* Lori Petty
* Malcolm McDowell is the villain
* Lori Petty
* a then-unknown Aussie actress named Naomi Watts
* Lori Petty
* Ice-T is a fuckin' kangaroo
* Lori Petty
* Tank Girl and Jet Girl make out!
* Lori Petty
* The coolest tribute to Cole Porter ever
* Lori Petty
* The soundtrack which has Bjork's "Army of Me" (which recently appeared in the movie "Sucker Punch") and a Joan Jett-Paul Westerberg(sic?) collabo cover of Cole Porter's "Let's Do It" and Devo does a new version of their song "Just a Girl" (based on a previous cover version by Soundgarden that the filmmakers couldn't afford)
* LORI FREAKIN PETTY! SERIOUSLY, SHE'S ONE OF THE BEST FUCKIN ACTRESSES OF THE '90S AND STILL AWESOME!

Lori Petty's voice is like fingernails on a chalkboard to me. But she is cute.

ATTACK THE BLOCK.
Best film of the year so far.

I remember the scene where she gets her face punched repeatedly being the only beaten scene. Don't remember the BDSM though :lol:. Needs a re-watch.
