hello!
I was wondering where are all the American SitComs are?
there used to be like a bazillion sitcoms in the 90's, now I think there is only how I met your mother and one other I can't remember.
Dont you like Sitcoms any more?
speaking about them, what do you think about sitcoms in the 90's?
A lot of them seem just like the same thing something like Saved by the Bell, City Guys, California dreams.
Like if it wasn't for the different actors and the setting, you would think it was the same show.
Same jokes, same expressions, same stories, same time length, same everything.
Did they have something like a Holy guide to Sitcoms that they can not go out of its rules?
but it did work, I guess if it ain't broken, dont fix it!
American SitComs
Re: American SitComs
Sitcoms are all too prevalent these days, but there are some good ones out there. Just check NBC.com, and there is a plethora of both good and bad sitcoms available for instant viewing.
Re: American SitComs
Yeah, sitcoms oversaturated the market. I don't think there's been a good one since Arrested Development, which was canceled because it was too different (and good).
Does Louie count as a sitcom? It doesn't quite fit the format, one camera, one real character, but it's the closest category. It's actually good, because Louie has complete creative control. That's really the key to producing any sort of quality entertainment. Give the artists creative control and keep the suits out of it.

Louis C.K. is probably my favorite living comedian, and his stand up bits on the show always give me a good chuckle - but the "show" part of Louie is really hit and miss. Sometimes it is brilliant, sometimes it is just really boring and fairly unfunny. I still watch it weekly, which is more than I can say for 99% of what's on TV.Hatta wrote:Yeah, sitcoms oversaturated the market. I'd also highly recommend Curb Your Enthusiasm - especially the first 4-5 seasons. It is probably my favorite TV comedy of all time, and even though the show has become less consistent in the past few years, there are still a couple of fall down funny episodes each season.
Other than those two, Arrested Development, and the U.S. version of The Office, not much else comes to mind that I've enjoyed in terms of American sitcom-type shows in the past decade. I have enjoyed a few British shows, but that's a little off topic...

Community is sort of a sitcom and it is incredibly funny.

How I Met Your Mother and The Big Bang Theory are good ones not mentioned.

Re: American SitComs
The market split into reality shows and then a lot of drama, stuff like 24 and House.
