Sony's Sharp Shooter
So I was at the pawn shop yesterday and I finally got to hold one of these Sharpshooter guns for PS Move. I must say these were designed extremely well. It was just about the perfect size and felt very comfortable to hold with the button placements also being wisely placed. My only gripe was that the Triangle and Square buttons (on both sides) above the trigger did seem a little too small. But other than that it's a winner. Also, did you know it has a scope mount on the top of it so you can add an actual, real-life hunting scope on it? I dunno what it would be good for, but I think that's pretty sweet.

Re: Sony's Sharp Shooter
I bought it in the Socom combo, It was awful to use when playing Socom, mostly because that game is awful. I love the design though, especially the pump shotgun thing it does. I just want to get a good game to use it on...

Re: Sony's Sharp Shooter
I kind of stop playing video games around the N64 era. (aside from emulating stuff and a brief stab at some first party Wii games). So, I actually bought a PS3 off the back of how fun the SharpShooter looked while playing SOCOM and Killzone 3. I have never played a FPS shooter before (ok, last one I played was GoldenEye on the N64).
So, a couple months after buying it. It is great fun. I can do fairly well online with SOCOM, but I feel they purposely designed the game so that Move players wouldn't have too much of an advantage. Or, maybe it is just those lightning fast Korean kids with 5 cans of Red Bull in them that can move faster than the speed of sound?
It is worth noting, many of the videos you see of people using it are 'wrong'. Either they hold it too much like an actual gun or more likely, their settings are just not right. (should be: deadzones set to 0, max out turn speed, cursor speed etc for lightning fast results).
Killzone I havent played online yet, still going through the story mode. From what I see and hear, people complain about the Move people playing online as its deemed too much of an advantage over the DS3.
Ive tried using the DS3 for these games, its just insanely weird to me. I guess I wasn't brought up using two sticks to control stuff after my gaming hiatus this last decade or so. I see many PS3 users mocking the Move (probably due to its motion control association to Nintendo and the whole 'hardcore gamer' machoism), but it seems like a natural interface for something like this and from what I hear rumor wise about the PS4, it is set to stay. I havent got the time to spend 12 weeks or more swearing at my screen after getting shot every 5 seconds while using a controller, so the Move and Sharpshooter combo is great.
I guess for people brought up using the DS3 it won't feel right. Or people who clamber around the 'hardcore gamer' moniker see it as a kids toy. As an impartial person totally new to it all... its a shame many dismiss it.

The whole using two sticks at the same time is one of the main reasons I won't get a PS3. I can not make it work.Mucx wrote: Ive tried using the DS3 for these games, its just insanely weird to me. I guess I wasn't brought up using two sticks to control stuff .

Re: Sony's Sharp Shooter
Looks like the PS Move & Sharp Shooter could be getting another big addition with "GoldenEye 007 Reloaded" which has just been unofficially announced for the PS3 & 360.

Re: Sony's Sharp Shooter
Yeah, saw the rumours of it. That would be pretty sweet if it had move compatibility.
Resistance 3 out in September is also supposed to be move compatible.
Battlefield 3 and the next COD wont be though, so that is a shame. I'll either need to learn this dual stick stuff or give it a miss :/

Re: Sony's Sharp Shooter
This thing has always intrigued me. Opinions seem evenly split. People try it and they hate it or they love it. I talked to a guy at Fry's shortly after the peripheral came out and he was using it with Killzone 3. He said he will never go back to the Dual Shock 3. But then I will talk to someone like my brother and he hated it. He demoed several games with it at two different E3s and he couldn't stand it.
I think more people would be interested in the Sharp Shooter if there was a proper place to demo it. My brother had this conversation with someone pretty high up the chain of command in Best Buy. He was told that they want to set up demos, but every compatible game is M rated and would not be appropriate to set up in their stores.
So I think Sony has dropped the ball here. If they were really interested in selling the peripheral, they would have put together a custom demo for Killzone or Socom that would be appropriate in a family setting. Something without the blood, gore and expletives but still showing off the Sharp Shooter's capabilities.

I hear ya. It would be nice if they had a Sharp Shooter setup at one of their demo stations at Best Buy or something.wip3outguy7 wrote:This thing has always intrigued me. Opinions seem evenly split. Another thing to take into account, is that I've heard from several people on the net that it sometimes takes awhile to "dial in your settings" with the Sharp Shooter. That basically means to spend some time in the options menu adjusting the game and controller sensitivities until you find one that feels right. If you've played some fps games on the Wii then you might be familiar with what I'm talking about. But all I'm really saying that you can't necessarily pick up the Sharp Shooter w/Move and just start blasting away. You might have to spend some time calibrating and adjust the controller sensitivity before it will do what you want it to do. This is another reason why you can't always go by what some people say - because they didn't take the time to do these things. Maybe your brother did, I dunno. I'm just saying you can't always go by what others say, you have to try it yourself.
