i was perusing a gamexchange when i heard one of the employee's talking about how they had a discolored dreamcast that he thought would never sell... he then told of some kid and his mom that came in.. the kid saw the discolored dreamcast and exclaimed, "..a dreamcast GOLD edition! ..these are super rare..." (not an exact quote...) .."mom we gotta get this!" so the kid's getting it and asks if the controller is gold too, to which the employee replied "sort of" ... and off went the one and only Dreamcast GOLD Edition.
That's hilarious and sad at the same time. I guess the kid was thinking of the gold N64, and confused it with Dreamcast.
The last Dreamcast ever made was a golden one, or so it's presumed...

Just google 'golden dreamcast' for a picture...

Got a chance to go poking through the local Play n' Trade's game manual stash that I heard about from another game collector. Got an employee to call the owner and he said take anything I wanted that was older than playstation.

Grabbed about as much as I could that wasn't sports, some of it was pretty beat but there were a few goodies burred in there!

Genesis covers:
Last Battle
Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine
PigSkin Football
Land Stalker
Air Driver
Operation Europe
Phelios
Romance of the Three Kingdoms II
Double Dragon: The Shadow Falls

PS1 Manuals (the guy pretended not to see these):
Resident Evil Directors Cut (GH)
FF8 mini walk through

Genesis Manuals
Phelios
Pigskin Football
Dr. Robotnik Mean Bean Machine
Operation Europe w/ poster/map
Double Dragon: The shadow Falls (Photo copy rental)
Romance of the Three Kingdom w/ poster/map

SNES Manuals
Kirby's Super Star (really thrashed cover just barely hanging on)
Contra III - The Alien Wars (kinda banged up but all together)

Saturn Manuals
GunGriffon
Virtua Fighter 2
Daytona USA
Virtua Cop

Nes Manuals:
Tecmo Bowl
Hogan's Alley
Dr. Mario
Contra
Super C
Double Dragon II
Side Pocket
Mike Tyson's Punch Out (just noticed it wedged inside another manual, missing cover)

Also picked up two 2600 games I didn't have for $1 each:
Planet Patrol
Entombed

It was the limited edition Mortal Kombat: Gold series. It was manufactured in the same plant that gave birth to the Dreamcast 2.
The only reason the Gold Dreamcast has even seen the light of day is because police reports claim "the plant was infiltrated by a caucasian male, described by eye-witnesses to be in his mid to late 20's, lanky, and dressed as 'some fruity, bare-chested Rambo wannabe.'" Eyewitnesses report the alleged intruder ran away with the only copy of the gold console, screaming "Assassin's Creed!"

Picked these up at a garage sale for 2 bucks each.

NES

Jackal
Skate Or Die
Little Nemo
Home Alone (could be the worst game ever)
Bionic Commando
Batman (never played this before but it's actually pretty damn good)
Life Force

SNES

Taz-Mania (I remembered this being a side scroller but it's actually a weird mode-7 game where you're trying to catch birds...)

LOL. You might be thinking of one of the Taz games on the Genesis. There was Taz-Mania and Taz in Escape from Mars. Not sure if there's any other Taz games on the Genesis, but those are the two that I know of and they're both side scrollers.

I've played the first one a decent amount, haven't gotten around to playing 'Mars yet but it seemed pretty fun for the 30 seconds I tried it out. Taz-Mania for the SNES though, I've played that one a lot. I think it's a lot of fun, you should give it a shot.

I found an Atari 2600/400/800 joystick today at Salvation Army, for $1. It had a button on the joystick as well as on the base, although it had no name for me to search with on the internet. So I have no idea what the real value of this controller is.

Also at Salvation Army found a Saturn 3D controller but for $10 I had to pass. I don't have a saturn anymore anyway. :(
