Just another reason for me to think about getting a PS3. This game sounds great!Xeogred wrote:Yeah it's obvious what they were going for. I've actually got a weird opinion about 3D Dot Game Heroes design though. To me the overworld feels a bit more complicated in the vein of Link to the Past and Link's Awakening, but the dungeons are obviously straight up original Zelda stuff. Not to be picky but that might be my one complaint, I wish the dungeons were more dynamic like the games after the first two, not just your normal "square room" per room. I'm crossing my fingers for a sequel that'll deliver.Gamerforlife wrote:
I haven't finished it yet, thanks to Catherine seducing me away from it, but I wonder how people compare 3D Dot Game Heroes to the 8-bit and 16-bit Zeldas. The game felt so much like the original 8-bit Zelda I was amazed.
Either way definitely a great game. I wouldn't put it above any 8-bit/16-bit Zelda (going up to the Oracle games here), but would easily take it over Minish Cap and the later handheld titles.
What are you playing?

I'm playing the Anthony Weiner game for the Delta College Education System and it's one of the hardest games I've ever played!

Re: What are you playing?
I can vouch for that. I started it up tonight and the first enemy you face slowly moves toward you as you aim your laser sight at it. I popped its head off. There is also a quick 180 turn move, a melee attack and a run button. So yeah, it definitely builds off of an RE 4 foundation, but it's so much more fun from what I've played so far. Here's just some random impressions:Xeogred wrote:My friend: "It plays like RE4 but is more over the top", that says enough to excite me.brunoafh wrote:Bayonetta was able to get by on sex appeal and gimmick factor, and Vanquish was able to get by for being a shooter. Both are actually great games regardless, but those are the reasons they were able to sell so well. Shadows of the Damned doesn't have any trump cards like that.Xeogred wrote:Yeah I'm sad to hear Shadow of the Damned sales are pretty bad. Weird considering Bayonetta got a lot of good publicity and sold well I believe, along with Vanquish.
Also, it doesn't really look that good. I'm a huge Suda and Mikami fan, and this didn't really draw me in.
Christ, this game has a lot of penis jokes
There's heavy metal in the soundtrack? Fuck yeah!
I feel like I'm Antonio banderas in this game
Funny sidekick with an accent? Yes, please
Did I mention there are lots of penis jokes
This game is fucking weird, it makes God Hand seem normal by comparison
Penis jokes LOL
I feel like this game is going to be the most quotable one I've played since Portal 2
Yeah, this game is pretty awesome. Between this and Catherine I'm starting to dig Japanese games again

The one that shoots out a barrage of those indestructible missiles, then shoots out another dozen or so that home in on you. It's like if you get hit and lose your powerups, you're screwed.dsheinem wrote:which boss do you mean?Xeogred wrote:Playing MUSHA, I got so pissed at the final stage I gave up. Re: What are you playing?
I actually found that one quite easy, especially if you use the fire weapon. Just stay under him for the one barrrage and next to him for the other, and do a very small bit of dodging to avoid the homing missles (which aren't very good at homing). Even if you are only partially powered up with the fire/bomb weapon when you get to him, you should be good.Xeogred wrote:The one that shoots out a barrage of those indestructible missiles, then shoots out another dozen or so that home in on you. The pain in the ass part of the last level is still coming up.
