You'll be able to track your collection and wishlist on here in the coming months :)

Edit: I don't currently have all of your fields in current development, but they bring up some good ideas that I'll plan on adding.

I know a lot of people here like hate on Gamespot. But they do have a very easy to use collection app on their website that is part of your profile when you sign up. It doesn't track consoles or accessories, but it does track games and it covers all console, handheld, and PC games.

rfgeneration.com

That's what I use. It's in my sig. I used to use the collection page on club.ign.com, but I like RF Generation better.

How do you catalog your games?

Post by Alex WS »

Unsure of what section to post this in, so please move if needed.

So yeah, I have these there video games, and I want to have an index of them all. So wondered what other people were using for cataloging them all, or if you do at all. Currently I'm using Backloggery, and that works quite nicely. Let's me rate the games, and add a little comment about them. But what I'm missing is an option to easily export the index to something off the web, like an excel file. Backloggery also lacks details like purchase or completion dates, and doesn't have an iPhone app as far as I'm aware. Would also be cool to detail what I paid for the game, it's condition, whether or not it's CIB etc.

Don't know if any other services has any of those features either, but I would like to know whats out there. So what service do you use, and how happy are you with it?

I like Microsoft Office Word. Very simple.

Seriously, I've archived all 1040 games in Word and can't complain. It's tedious, but really any method is going to be starting out.
I also rock an Android and just downloaded an app called: Game Collection v.1.18. There's a free version, (which I'm using,) that's got small ad banners on the top, but it works fine! The premium version costs a dillar, I think, removes ads and lets you take your own pictures for each entry, rather than the database server's files. Just started using it, but 25 games in and I can't complain thus far!

Side-note: Whatever happened to the Racketboy archiving tool? Is that still a possibility?

You should also try VGCollect. I think it's open to the public now.
