Well looks like you've got a helper in there. :)
I didn't even see the horse in the background, I was too busy checking out that lumber.

The only way to deactivate the ray beam and fight back the vampire alien threat is with a complicated series of foot patterns on the device's control board that looks remarkably like a DDR pad. We will all praise this man for saving our lives and buy him a mountain of stuffed animals.

Plywood the way to go on cabs? I'm more used to going with MDF building speakers.

It's a lot lighter, than MDF for sure. MDF is more 'stock', if you wanna even call it that, but plywood will do a great job and it's lighter. Just sand the SHIT out of it and you'll have a nice smooth surface for your paint/vinyl.

It's cabinet grade plywood, and comes recommended over MDF board on most sets of plans I've looked at due to it being sturdier and easier to work with.

This might end up being more of a "MAME cabinet in five weeks" project, but I am making some progress and plan to do quite a bit of work on this between now and the meetup on August 20th to get it in playable (if not finalized) shape.

Here's some pictures from this morning. The majority of the woodworking is actually done now, though I still have pieces to add obviously. I plan to order the rest of the parts I need (including the joystick) so that they arrive early next week.

Not everything is 100% perfectly square as I don't regularly do woodworking, but I am damn impressed by the results nonetheless. I only needed a small shim to add to one of the casters (wheels) on the bottom of the base to make it balance perfectly. Next step is doing some routing for T-molding and adding ledger boards and some back beams. So yeah, more woodworking lies ahead, but now it at least looks like a cabinet. :D
