Is There Anything I Can Do With Empty Game Boxes?

Post by rbelmont000 »

I was wondering if any of you knew if there was something I could do with empty game boxes. A bunch of my DS and GBA games were stolen a few years back and I'm left with boxes that are in pretty great condition with all the inserts and everything. They are just taking up space now, but it seems like a shame to just throw them away.

Are there any sites dedicated to collectors trying to get game boxes they don't have or something like that?

[Edit] Ah ha! Well, I see you have a section for that already.

There are definitely people who would be interested, though I don't know of any dedicated sites for it.

I'm certain you'd be able to sell them both here and on ebay.

In general, you can use them for flash carts and printing inserts for them. In the case of the Genesis, you can make print outs of games that came in those annoying cardboard boxes (from '94 and up) and make clamshell versions of them. Any case/box that can be customized with a removable boxart insert or manual should be a keeper unless you absolutely have no use for them and you can sell them. As for cardboard boxes, sell them to someone who needs them to complete a game seeing as there's nothing you can do to alter them.

Since you're talking GBA, sell them since they are cardboard. Someone else could use them. Sell the DS ones or save one if you want to get a flash cart in the future. There's an box/manual orphanage thread at Sega-16 which would make a great thread idea here where people post what they need to complete their games.
What a maneuver!

I've got literally (okay, maybe not literally...) tons of cases for a lot of systems. Mostly PS3, X360, PSP and just generic DVD cases.

I could also certainly use money for my arcade addiction. Any idea what these would go for?

Looking on eBay it seems that PS3/PSP/360 game cases aren't in terribly high demand right now. I know I buy replacement cases only when I have damaged ones (or to put loose Game Boy games in) and I don't think there are a ton of damaged PS3/PSP/360 cases floating around right now, and with all of those games being so incredibly common I doubt you'd get much more than .50 to 1.00 for each of them :/
