You may have a point - and it would be a great chance for me to test out my new (used) indigo GB player.Balasubbie wrote:Go for Castlevania. Good buffer. You'll burn yourself out on Nintendo's best offerings, doing a disservice to them in the long run.
What are you playing?

Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Played a ton of Zelda Link to the Past today. Got the master sword and a ton of other items. Gotta save Zelda in the castle. I'm really liking this one so far. I think its my favorite Zelda game, but I've only played 5 Zelda games, the newest one being Ocarina of Time.

I haven't finished it yet, thanks to Catherine seducing me away from it, but I wonder how people compare 3D Dot Game Heroes to the 8-bit and 16-bit Zeldas. The game felt so much like the original 8-bit Zelda I was amazed.Xeogred wrote:Nah, nothing compares to LTTP.SwooshBear wrote:Played a ton of Zelda Link to the Past today. Yeah it's obvious what they were going for. I've actually got a weird opinion about 3D Dot Game Heroes design though. To me the overworld feels a bit more complicated in the vein of Link to the Past and Link's Awakening, but the dungeons are obviously straight up original Zelda stuff. Not to be picky but that might be my one complaint, I wish the dungeons were more dynamic like the games after the first two, not just your normal "square room" per room. I'm crossing my fingers for a sequel that'll deliver.Gamerforlife wrote:I haven't finished it yet, thanks to Catherine seducing me away from it, but I wonder how people compare 3D Dot Game Heroes to the 8-bit and 16-bit Zeldas. Either way definitely a great game. I wouldn't put it above any 8-bit/16-bit Zelda (going up to the Oracle games here), but would easily take it over Minish Cap and the later handheld titles.

Re: What are you playing?
I've also been playing a lot of Game & Watch Gallery for the Gameboy. A true childhood favorite, if I ever had one.
Can anyone here report on the quality of the G&W Gallery sequels? Which ones offer the most fun/addictive collection of titles? I've never got around to trying out any of them.
Also, aren't there DS releases of this available exclusively through Club Nintendo? Are those pretty much the same thing, only truer to the original platform?
Thanks to anyone who can help.

Ultimate DOOM - first time I'm playing the PC version and first time playing for more than an hour. I've played some of the ports back in the day but they are generally all pretty terrible and control pads arent really suited to it.
Lucy bought me the Collectors Disk a few years ago, I wasn't really into playing old games at the time so it never got much time. Installed it the other day on my vista box and after a bit of messing about I installed Chocolate Doom and just copied the WADS from the disk
Choc Doom is pretty good, lets me disable vertical movement from the mouse so that I can play with a decent control set up.
As for the game, I'm loving the atmosphere and the music and all of the things that are missing from modern fps games - interesting level layouts/exploration elements, a map, no fecking respawning enemies, ability to carry more than 2 weapons, secrets to find etc etc. Very cool, even if I am a bit lttp
