Latif should get MVP for taking out Tokido, Daigo and Poongko. What a dude, there was so much pressure on him after the two other Americans got eliminated. He must've been so burnt out after that and had no juice left for the grand finals.

First time in 4 years I haven't attended EVO Look at that hype it is building exponentially. The stream and production are getting way better as well.

Fei is a tank and Fuudo played him fundamentally sound. The frame traps he was using with EX Rekka's after jab rekka on block were pure evil. He straight up blew Latif up with that.

As for Latif wow right? Tokido, Daigo, Poongko? I think the break is what beat him, he needed to sit down to another game he was in the zone! Some of his dropped combo's to force reset mixups confused me but thats why I am at home watching.

Poognko's domination of Daigo was impressive. Daigo was just manhandled.

Latif did a great job. It's a shame he couldn't keep it going through the grand finals. I felt like Latif had a more challenging path to the finals than Fuudo, so it would have been nice to see Latif get the ultimate payoff for all the obstacles he overcame. Although, Fuudo was just so solid with his Fei Long and he obviously had Latif figured out.

I did not enjoy the MvC3's Sunday matches as much. Too much Phoenix saving the day. I don't like the play mechanic of having a character that you bring in to (almost deliberately) have die, so that she can come back to life and save your ass via her ridiculous powers. I did like that Tron slam of Dark Phoenix at one point. It was good to see someone stuff Dark Phoenix at least once, but that took an extremely skilled player and a bit of luck to do. Dark Phoenix is too unbalanced.

Also, in general, it was pretty cool to see Mortal Kombat (9?) in tournament play. It adds some welcome variety to the tournament scene. Speaking of variety, it seemed like there was no one overpowered Phoenix or Yun character that everyone used in MK, which, in addition to being tournament-worthy, suggests that MK is quite balanced, too.

I kind of agree, but only slightly. Fuudo had to beat Wolfkrone, Xian from Singapore (very good player if you haven't heard of him), and Poongko.
