PS3 Variants

Post by itsmattxp »

I'm a sucker for console variants so I was wondering how many different PS3 variants are there? The only one I know of is the Final Fantasy XIII one but am interested in the others. Maybe I'll pick one up :).

Japan got a really nice looking white one, reminds me of the PSone, but they kept it all for themselves. :x

*mod edit - None of that on my watch. The term is borderline offensive and it was definitely meant as an insult. Even if you think it was in jest, someone else might not.*

Console Colors lists the PS3 slim as having 4 colour variants (LE denotes limited edition / production run):

Black
Blue (Japan Only LE)
White (Japan Only)
Final Fantasy XIII Lighting Edition White (Japan Only LE)

As for the PS3 Fat, there are too many too list. Site above has them though. Many of the variants for the fat are 1 of a kind though.

If you want to know about tech / model variants I am sure I could dig up that list I used to have, but someone else might be able to fill you in in the mean time.

Personnally I want the Red Fat that was given away in canada.
See this: http://www.consolecolors.com/images/ps3red.jpg
Only 3 exist though :(

I want the white PS3 slim. It's hard to justify the price, but someday it will be mine.

Reminds me of the articles sarcasticgamer.com used to write back in 2006/2007 lambasting the PS3. Good times, good times.

The original launch models are still the best. They have proper PS2 backwards compatibility.
