Am I safe in assuming that the notification can't be turned off?

(Achievements don't really bother me unless it's during action-heavy gameplay. They're a little distracting sometimes.)

not sure I've never checked. The pop-ups don't bother me. There's also pop-ups that say when you're friends sign in or out of PSN, and if you get a message. I kind of like those anyway.

The only option I see is one to turn the friend messages on or off, not trophy ones.

The sound is a bit more subtle and isn't as annoying as 360's achievement sound, if that helps I guess. lol

What do you guys consider the "must-play" titles? I know of a few I want to play but I haven't followed PS3 news at all since its launch.

The Sly Collection
Portal 2
The Orange Box (but only if you can't get either of the other versions)

My ps3 doesn't get a TON of play time, but Valkyria Chronicles is great if you like turn-based strategy jrpgs.

Demon's Souls (If you like RPG's and are confident in your skills)
MGS4 (If you like third-person shooters/stealth games that are very story heavy)
Valkyria Chronicles (If you like SJRPG's)

Those are all exclusives, are you interested in multiplatform titles?
