Anyone play Humongous Entertainment games?

Post by DinnerX »

Does anyone play the humongous entertainment games? I just love them even though I'm definitely out of the target age range. If you do play them what are your favorites?

In case you don't know, Ron Gilbert co-founded Humongous Entertainment and was involved with designing most of the games. All the good Humongous Entertainment use the SCUMM scripting language and are well supported by SCUMMVM so you shouldn't have any trouble playing them. If you haven't tried any of them I'd recommend getting Pajama Sam: No Need to Hide When It's Dark Outside or Spy Fox in Dry Cereal first.

Yeah, those were some of my first forays into gaming.

I still have Backyard Baseball, and I'm playing it for the Summer Challenge.
Gaming accomplishments:
Nibbler (marathon): 251,169,160 / Nibbler (one life): 5,263,360 (WR)
Donkey Kong: 423,100 [L12-1] (150th place as of 2019-01-15)
Super Smash Bros. (N64): Ranked top 5 in Wisconsin from Q1 2016 to Q2 2017
Shrek SuperSlam: won largest tournament in game's history (Shrekfest 2018)

Yea. I remember anytime I got money I would go and buy a computer game, and they were almost always humongous games.

Spy Fox, Pajama Sam, Freddie Fish, and Putt-Putt were some of my first games. I got nostalgic about 6 months ago and played some Pajama Sam you are what you eat. I think some of their games were ported to the wii/ds.

I remember playing a pick up game in tee ball mode with a team of power hitters. I got enough runs the score counter overflowed and corrupted.

For years Backyard Baseball was broken in SCUMMVM, but it works great now so I've played it some again.

They do have official Wii ports of some of the games. I just use the homebrew channel to run the Wii version of SCUMMVM so I can play all of the games on the wii. SCUMMVM's actually the major reason I installed the homebrew channel.

Humungous Entertainment made some of the first games I ever played. I played the heck out of Pajama Sam, Putt-Putt, Backyard Baseball, and pretty much everything else they made. The game still hold up quite well today, and are awfully fun. :)
