Production Errors

Post by squid »

I recently purchased a copy of Suikoden II on eBay and I noticed something odd about the back insert; the perforations on the left and right side are both uneven. The inlay is also not quite right... I don't know if you can tell from these pictures, but there is also a distinct slant in the text beneath the copyright. For those of you that own Suikoden II, are these imperfections common? Did I end up with the Ron Howard of Suikoden II copies or is this just a crummy reproduction insert?

The only other production line error I'm aware of is the "masterpiece" in the Final Fantasy VII insert. Let's see some others. This is porn to game collectors. Hot, mutant porn.

I looked at both of my copies of Suikoden II and one looks a bit like yours not as much off.

The other looks pretty normal. There could have been a small run with the alignment slightly off. I doubt anything that would make this game any more expensive than it needs to be.

as for misprints I have a copy of Power Stone where the color of the backing bleeds over 1/3 of the way where the name sits on the edge.

Yeah, I struggled with the price of the game for a long time. I wanted it in my collection and I gave in. I know I'm not alone.

I have a PS2 Rez reprint with an extra pages 9-12 in the middle. Pretty sure I have other game examples and I know I have a bunch of music CD misprint stuff. I just can't think of any of them right this moment.

That is bizarre. Maybe, somewhere out there, it has a twin Rez that's missing those pages?

On the subject of extra content, what about games like GTA: San Andreas and Spider-Man 2: Enter Electro, which were pulled so that they could have content removed or altered? Are there other games that went through a similar process and thus more uncommon? I'd love to hear about them. It's interesting to consider the impact that a few reactionary responses can have on gaming and game collecting. I like the idea that multiple versions, not of limited editions, greatest hits, et cetera, but delivered from either accidental or unanticipated conditions, can exist for a single game. One of the unfortunate aspects of moving toward digital distribution is that some of that old west is taken out of collecting.

At my job I see that there is a copy of Condemned Criminal Origins for 360 and it's missing its name on the spine of the case!

All I see is "platinum hits" words in light gray with no title on top of it on the side.

I would guess thats an error for microsoft.

Maybe someone can confirm if this happened with their copy or not, but I recently bought FFII (PSP) new from some store off Amazon, and it came with two booklets. One is colored, one is in black and white. Page for page they're the exact same thing other than that, seemed pretty weird to me. lol

The biggest error I know is in Romance of the Three Kingdoms X for the Playstation 2

The game promises in the back 8 player multiplayer meaning 8 people could play at a time, but instead it's meant to be a single player on the Playstation 2 port. In the actual PC versions over in asia, they are actually 8 player games on their PC ports which I thought was impossible for the game play but proved me wrong.

I can't remember which game it is, but I have one where the printing in the manual is off-center for a few pages.
