Help! my sega saturn doesnt play music only sfx

So I purchased a sega saturn for about 15 bucks at a flea market, the BIOS works fine, in fact some games have music for the most part. But most dont play music, only sound effects. In fact, I put an audio cd into the console and no sound comes out! even though It says that it is playing. Does anyone know what the problem is? I tried cleaning the lens and getting a new cable, switching plugs and tvs. Still no progress. Thanks!

could be the multi-out jack inside the console has some rust or corrosion on it. deeper than that, i have no idea.

Maybe try reseating the ribbon cable that goes between the drive and the board. It might only mix redbook audio after it has been passed to the mainboard.
