I remember that guy saying that. He's kind of an asshat, isn't he? I maintain that $250 would have been an acceptable price point if the games were on the shelf to make owning the system worthwhile.

I like the gimmick of glasses-free 3D. I know a lot of people don't care for it, but I think it's cool. I should be excited about this price drop. While the price drop is somewhat enticing, I feel like I'd be boarding a sinking ship to buy a 3DS now.

You would have been boarding a sinking ship to buy one at launch. To buy one now, is like exploring the wreck of the Titanic under the water.

No. The 3DS has already done too well to fail as hard as the 3DS. Even in a worst case scenario, the 3DS has gone too far to be remembered as a flop on the scale of the VB. Plus, the 3DS's coffin is far from nailed shut. Nintendo can still right this listing ship if they try hard enough. I mean, just look how far the PS3 has come from 2006. It went from being a super-expensive game barren laughingstock to arguably the best console this generation. It's far too early to write off the 3DS.

Not sure on this, the gaming market is so huge now compared to when the Virtual Boy came out. I think anything gaming related coming out from a major company, even duds will have sales. The long term if the 3DS will hold onto the 3D frenzy as Virtual Boy attempted and failed during the Virtual Reality frenzy of its day.

What is the substitute good for the 3DS? Portable gaming isn't going away - it will always be there. The only close substitute is the PS Vita which won't be out for another year...and that is assuming that people wouldn't mind losing access to 1st party Nintendo games.

The 3DS will be fine. It probably won't print money like the DS did...but honestly, does ANY piece of technology deserve to make THAT MUCH money!?

Now they're offering 10 NES games and 10 GBA games to these so called ambassadors. Gee thanks Nintendo, more reliance on the past. Where's the new content? Where is the 3DS content more specifically? We can play and emulate NES and GBA on a bevy of different systems in an equally diverse number of ways. Playing a single-screen game on a fancy dual-screen device with nothing extra? No save states? This is a portable system after all, I can't always make it to an official save spot. Emulators seem to have that all figured out, what about you Nintendo? Where's the "x-factor" that makes us want to re-purchase your oldies again and again and again? Where's the killer app, the killer feature, the must-have?

There isn't a single one.

Pulling things out of our ass again irixith? Nice to see not much has changed round here. The 3DS virtual console does have save states actually. Works very well and I've not had a single problem with it so far, the emulation is flawless, just like the virtual console on the Wii, as opposed to 95% accuracy if you're lucky on other systems because, like most emulators, they are the product of a couple of hobbyists in their spare time. It's never going to be flawless. Nintendo thoroughly play test their VC releases that is the reason for the delays in releases. Everybody moans about VC titles getting trickled, but they're VERY unlikely to just splurge the entire library onto the system untested, and then have hundreds of people complaining that the games don't work properly, have bugs, unfinishable etc. It's just totally unrealistic to expect that.
