[PS3] Unreal Tournament III

The Resistance series is great, and R3 is one of my most anticipated games of the year. The co-op multiplayer mode in R2 is my fave co-op of all time in any FPS.

Resistance Retribution is a very solid third person shooter for the PSP. The whole series just oozes quality, you should check it out.

Gears of War is not a FPS, it is a third person shooter.

I think this winter you need to immerse yourself in some non-2D shooting (and some 3D hack-n-slash like DMC, God of War, etc.)

Anyway, UT3 is on sale for $5 right now at GS. So I'll probably nab it for the hell of it.

I only saw the demo thing at E3. It just looked shit becase the whole demo the guy like barely moved his character. So it was basically standing in one spot, shooting, changing weapons, shooting, changing weapons, shooting, throwing a grenade, shooting. End.

since I did 10 PS1 games for Summer Gaming, I'm planning to do 10 PS2 games for Winter Gaming this year. So I figured God of War or DMC would end up in that lineup.

I don't think I'd spend $ on a mic, though. That would probably drive my wife nuts.

BTW Hobie, I think I have a USB hub in my attic that I don't need.

Well, if the rest or at least some of us get mics working for coordination when playing team stuff it will probably be ok. I actually went ahead and just ordered a small hub, though it will be a bit before it shows up.

UT III is a fast paced FPS, so If you played any Duke or Doom deathmatch you'll probably like it. I haven't really played Halo either as the PC demo felt like I was trying to pilot a boat. Aside from Deathmatch, there is capture the flag, and variations of capturing and holding points on the map on the way to destroying the enemy generator.

Did you not play Doom and Duke on PC? Or were you playing KB style since that was before WASD and mouse really became standard?

I played Doom and Wolf3D on PC, but used KB-only back then.

No wonder I was seeing a lot of new players.

Played about 2 hours of Vehicle CTF and Deathmatch. Finally got onto a good team. The first couple of matches, everyone on my team was trying to lone wolf things. We dominated once we got some team chat going. I was owning this one deathmatch server, but it was difficult to stay on top. The server host had bots turned on and their AI was set to ultra stupid. So it was easy to pad kills even when you weren't doing very well.

I will try to hop on again tonight to play.

I'm doubtful for tonight but plan on playing some tomorrow night (Friday) - maybe we can get 6-8 of this group and do a team deathmatch or something.

I'm good for any time tonight. I will be home from work around 9pm tomorrow. I was thinking we could run some more co-op in story mode if people want. We can do team deathmatch, vehicle CTF (my favorite... and I'm horrible at it), or we could try one on one. One on one could be a lot of fun, fighting game style.
