The director of Rockman Dash 3 has noticed the massive fanbase uproar and is encouraging fans to keep showing support for the project.

...granted, no where is it said or implied that it will do any good but this is the first time I have seen someone from Capcom actually acknowledge that maybe the support has been there all along.
look how long it took them to acknowledge the Marvel vs Capcom fan base to come out with the third installment.
I don't know if you are aware of this but you don't really need to remind a Mega Man Legends fan about how long sequels can take.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

If all us Half-Life fans were also Mega Man Legends fans, there would be a lot less complaining from us.

Depends. Has a sequel been promised and all but dated only to be yanked away without explanation?

Besides, I think there is something different going on here than the usual gamer bitching - it's hard to describe but I think MML3 was a lot more important to a lot of people than they realized until it suddenly wasn't on the horizon anymore. But hey, I might also just be getting my own hopes up here.

I'm more appalled the way Mega Man fans at Comic Con were treated over this than the actual cancellation. However, it does suck we're not getting MML3.

I think you misunderstood. When I said there would "be less complaining from us" I meant "us" (meaning Half Life fans) would complain less about Valve's tardy releases. I didn't mean that MML fans would complain less to Capcom if they were HL fans.

Oh crap, I hate rumors like this. I am always afraid that I am setting myself up but...

http://www.1up.com/do/blogEntry?bId=9085141

Someone who claims to have insider knowledge (yeah, that shit makes me groan, too) has explained the reason for the cancellation and the benchmark that, if met, might cause Capcom to green light Legends 3.

Apparently when the developers said the game hadn't been green lit, they weren't kidding - I had thought the game had the support and blessing of Capcom given the heavy coverage in Nintendo Power and all the press materials and posters. Apparently in an all-too-Megaman 2 kinda way, most of the development was being done on a shoestring and in spare time.

That part makes sense to me - it would explain the callous way the game was canceled. If the execs at Capcom weren't that into making it then of course they might axe the game without realizing how intense the anticipation was.

The source goes on to say that the dev room in the US stayed open in order to provide fans a chance to register and show Capcom that the game IS commercially viable - there is some internal formula at work here to determine when interest in the devroom might equal positive returns at retail.

Well that number has been surpassed in the last 24 hours...and then damn near tripled. Legends 3 devroom now has over 12000 members and the number is growing.

So I don't know what this means - shadowy unnamed sources usually equal BS but for some reason in Megaman Fandom the shadowy insiders are almost always right. It was this same type of 'inside information' that predicted, accurately, Megaman 9 and 10 just in the last few years.

So if you haven't registered at the devroom and you give a crap about seeing MML3, it'd be awesome if you could folks.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

No Flake, thank you for reminding me! I'm not going to let a golden opportunity for MML 3 to be green lit again. I have a gut feeling that the game is going to be released as Capcom is bound to hear all us Megaman fans. Legends never die!
