yup. FFT is indeed based on the Ogre games. But they didn't just get the idea from them, they were essentially built by the same developers. Great games. I love Tactics Ogre as well.

Anyway, I'll keep my eye out for D&DT. It does look worthwhile. Were there other D&D Tactics games, or just this one?

Unfortunately just this one. The game got mixed reviews so it didn't get popular.

Yeah, I read some reviews that said the camera view was awful, and that the controls weren't the friendliest. Kept me from buying it initially, but now I'm wondering if I shouldn't give it a go because of the statement of it being better than FFT.

My statement is a matter of opinion, I don't think the camera was the most awful thing in the world since playing Sonic 2006. The controls take a moment to figure out but I didn't think they were so bad that they were unplayable like certain games for the Regular Nintendo.

You're speaking to a guy that enjoys playing D&D, I give the game a 9/10 a -1 because I felt there were things that could have been worked on but to me the game is fun.

If you're a hardcore Final Fantasy Tactics fan, don't come for my head if you disagree by a wide margin.

Ha! No, I wouldn't do that. I like Tactics games, but almost all of them have their weak points.

I think I'd say I prefer TO myself.

Ironically, that's one of the games that I need to get into. I haven't even started it yet. One of the games I still need to get back to work with when it comes to strategy games is Generation of Chaos, I love playing as the bird people with the wings :)

I heard about this game when it first came out, but as I didn't own a PSP and it got mixed reviews, I gave it a pass, despite owning pretty much every other D&D RPG made since Pool of Radiance.

Earlier this year, I played through Operation:Darkness on the Xbox 360 which reminded me that reviewers can be totally wrong about a game.

So I went out and got myself a PSP and D&D Tactics.

Yes, it was a big investment, but I thoroughly enjoyed the game. I don't recall having any issues with either the controls or the camera (but I seem to have a pretty high tolerance for variations in those departments).

My one complaint about the game is that it was very, very easy. I think by the end, my party was 4 levels above the recommended level for each encounter--and I hadn't even made any attempt to power level.

But, yeah, I would definitely recommend it to any fan of D&D RPGs. The implementation of the rule set isn't quite as good as, say, the Temple of Elemental Evil, but it is still way more simulationist than a lot of other SRPGs (like, say, Disgaea).

Good game, yeah it does get easy but it puts a side of creativity for me in making a team. Occasionally I make a Batman team and that can get fun...lol
