NES pin connector on PAL and NTSC console the same?...
Re: NES pin connector on PAL and NTSC console the same?...
I can't defend the way this guy reacted, he definitely did so in a very hostile manner, however; I can agree that these forums have been very hostile to cleaning methods other than alcohol and contact cleaner.

Uh... Wouldn't be better to explain WHY that method is bad, rather than such harsh reaction to the idea?Ziggy587 wrote:A stove top cleaner is a bullshit thing to clean electrical contacts with. I don't care how much you bitch about it, I'm never going to try it. You're calling us idiots for not liking or wanting to try your method. The fact is, many of us are smart enough to know that your method is bullshit. Yet you're calling us idiots for it, and saying the ENTIRE FORUM has inferior experiences and knowledge. Really?

I think Ziggy feels the same way as I do here (and is probably hostile due to all the other hostility). As I've said stove top cleaner is made to eat away at grease and food and made to do it on hefty glass and ceramic stove tops. These type of materials can handle a heavy chemical cleaner but rubbing that on thin metal contacts might not be the best idea over time.
While no one has complained or noticed any immediate damage to the contacts a this point why bother with that risk when there are cleaners or a process that gets the job done with no residue, no damage, and is made for the type of materials that are being cleaned.

Most of us here aren't normally hostile toward anything. It only turns into this kind of BS because one person can't take the negative comments toward their method.Jamisonia wrote:I can't defend the way this guy reacted, he definitely did so in a very hostile manner, however; I can agree that these forums have been very hostile to cleaning methods other than alcohol and contact cleaner.
Read the link I posted. Anything I can say here I've already said there. I really don't feel like explaining it all again. Moreover, it's already been explained in this thread. I have nothing more to add.theclaw wrote:Uh... Wouldn't be better to explain WHY that method is bad, rather than such harsh reaction to the idea?

Exactly. I saw this thread with its simple question when it was first posted. This morning, when I noticed it was 8 pages long, I was wondering why it was going strong for such a simple question. So naturally I read through it. The cleaning conversation started off normal, but Gens had to blow up. Reminds me of the link I posted. Same deal. If you want to debate why your method is better, that's cool. I'm all ears. But when you insult the ENTIRE COMMUNITY and threaten to leave for better forums... well, don't let the door hit you on the ass on the way out!
Re: NES pin connector on PAL and NTSC console the same?...
Haha. I can't say I think you're being any nicer, or that I agree with either side of the debate here. But it's not my place to comment. I don't own an NES console unit.

This like looked at the post below. I blew up because nobody would try the damn method.Jamisonia wrote:I can't defend the way this guy reacted, he definitely did so in a very hostile manner, however; I can agree that these forums have been very hostile to cleaning methods other than alcohol and contact cleaner.
And just because a product doesn't say it works with something else doesn't mean it won't do a good job. The stovetop cleaner also acts as a metal polish. Just because it's not GENERIC METAL POLISH on the label you won't use it? lol!
Oh well. Whatever, you're games shall always be dirtier, just remember that.

Nobody had been hostile though. People just stated that their preferred methods already worked well enough. "That's cool, but I don't see a need to try it" isn't the least bit hostile. The hostility started when this guy started calling people idiots, claimed the whole community was "inferior" and threatened to leave. Only after that did anyone else abandon common courtesy. I don't think there's any sense in helping this guy play the victim here.Jamisonia wrote:I can't defend the way this guy reacted, he definitely did so in a very hostile manner, however; I can agree that these forums have been very hostile to cleaning methods other than alcohol and contact cleaner.

And you always act like this. You have to be right. There have been several statements I've made that you like to make little changes too so its perfectly right by your standards. You have to be right so much that you misinterpreted me on purpose. I am not helping this guy play victim, I'm pointing out that these forums are hostile to other methods of cleaning. Do not forget people were unwilling to give his method a try before he blew up. This is being the slightest bit hostile to the method. What is the point of a forum if nobody will try other people's methods so we can come to an agreement on which method is the best?flamepanther wrote:Nobody had been hostile though. You're the one who told him he was younger than these games so he doesn't know anything. You encouraged him after he blew up. I simply said twice that racketboy has been hostile to other methods, especially those involving metal cleaners. It has happened to me a few times before this episode.
I am not defending the way in which he acted, however; before he blew up, and in the past, methods like his and mine have not been given the time of day. We have been told we're wrong, ganged up upon, and disregarded without even being able to explain to you why we feel this is a good idea, and certainly without other people having tried the method. They simply say you're wrong, mine works better. When 2-3 people gang up on you in a forum, like what happened here, it feels hostile. You insulted him for being too young to know anything, enough to piss any younger person off, as the older generation refuses to look at facts and evidence over experience.
Everyone just argued for there own methods, an eraser, alcohol, contact cleaner. The difference was everybody agreed that he was wrong, without so much as trying it. Thats what pissed him off, and pisses me off. It pisses me off because it happens often on racketboy on this subject, and that is the point I am trying to make.
This is the internet, and naturally that stuff happens. People want to be right to the exclusion of anyone's opinion. But this isn't Gamespot forums, this is racketboy forums. Racketboy is supposed to a community that looks for the best answers, and isn't about petty bickering of whose right and whose wrong, and in this case racketboy members have dropped the ball, myself included.
