I'd forgotten some of these even started as mods. I guess that's a good sign. Odds are you have heard of these all before. The Cube mod is new to me though. I might need to reinstall Fallout 3 and try that one.

I always forget Team Fortress was a QUAKE mod. It wasn't the best mod of the game I had seen, but it was thorough and brought TF2.

Some of the comments there are right about some exclusions though - Action Quake II and Threewave CTF were earlier and (at least in the case of the latter) quite ubiquitous. Action definitely had the basics for Counter-Strike in place.

3) Niode
4) ..... whoops!
mis-read that subject!
Garry's Mod will always be impressive to me - even if I never cared much for the whole Half-Life thing...
This post reminded of high school, when I tried to make a Castlevania mod for Doom.

I always forget who's who on the mod-squad here. I actually don't see much fire-fighting here; good job guyse!Rurouni_Fencer wrote:1) Noise

I think I saw something like that; a mod that changed some level-layouts to use the whip to traverse giant pits of lava?Rurouni_Fencer wrote:This post reminded of high school, when I tried to make a Castlevania mod for Doom.

That actually sounds really cool! Mine was just going for more of a cosmetic make-over similar to the MegaMan hack somebody made back then. I did, however, want to include a whip and sword, in addition to throwing daggers, crosses, and axes. No environmental changes like the whip technique you described, though - that would have been awesome at the time!pakopako wrote:I think I saw something like that; a mod that changed some level-layouts to use the whip to traverse giant pits of lava?Rurouni_Fencer wrote:This post reminded of high school, when I tried to make a Castlevania mod for Doom.

Wasn't a whip (spiked-ball and chain) already in Quake? It was the alternative-mode of the Axe (the regular hand-held one).
