Voltron Live-Action Movie Announced
Re: Voltron Live-Action Movie Announced
We'll see how it goes. I'm not expecting anything beyond the level of similar movies like GI Joe. I've always thought there was a lot of potential in turning these form together to create giant robot tv shows into movies though. I even think power rangers could turn out cool with the right people behind it. Before Green Lantern came out I thought the same concept they used for his suit could've been done with modernizing/translating power rangers to the big screen.

Are they going to ruin Thundercats next?
(yes I saw that fairly cool fan edited trailer a few years ago)

Oh yeah, someone had posted that here. I had blocked it out of my mind after seeing the changes. I meant with a live action movie though. But hey, whatever it takes to ruin everyone's happy childhood memories, right?dsheinem wrote:They're already on it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ThunderCat ... _series%29

Fun Fact: They're all naked in the first episode, for the first 5-10 minutes. Apparently cats don't have nipples (no need for a meet the parents ref).
It's aged rather well. The voices are crisp, the animation pretty smooth (at times), and although the soundtrack is recycled over and over, it's not bad. Plus, that sword and the furry infinity gauntlet is still bad ass.

When I saw the first episode years later, I noticed this and was amused too.Luke wrote:Fun Fact: They're all naked in the first episode, for the first 5-10 minutes. Apparently cats don't have nipples (no need for a meet the parents ref).
Thundercats is one of the few cartoons from my childhood that were made specifically with toys and merchandising in mind that I still thought was pretty decent. The PSAs at the end were silly, but otherwise it held up. A lot of other cartoons I saw again later, I wondered how the obvious brain damage that made me think some of them were watchable had healed as I grew older. It's aged rather well. Re: Voltron Live-Action Movie Announced
Agreed.
When re-watching an old cartoon (Tex Avery and Loony-Tunes aside) you have to view it knowing the production value is decades old. TCats holds up surprisingly well, and the characters premises are very reminiscent of TMNT, and other popular comics. The formula and presentation works.
Snarf is awful, but so was Cringer and Orko, but what action cartoon didn't have an awful comic relief role?

There are literally hundreds of HE-MAN scripts out there, but I honestly don't think we'll see a He-Man movie until 2017 (at the earliest).
