Has the PSP retired yet?

Persona 2 is coming out on the PSP in the fall; as far as I'm concerned, that is definitely a sign of life.

I don't think anything can save the PSP unless they tried one last harrah in marketing. What would be nice if they made some sort of tremendous come back and decided to start translating and importing games over here from japan and just saying they are "new games" even if they're 3-4 years back. In a sense, just start throwing a mess load of games like the DS did.

that's a good point. That's what like Agetech's line of A1 games did with the PS1 for instance -- just translated a bunch of Simple Series games and kept banging them out at the end of the PS1's life.

I'd really like that, but I don't think it's going to happen.

I think it will happen -- BUT I think it will be via PSN, not as actual UMD's in most cases.

Marketing won't change anything for the PSP, but some games just might. Unfortunately the fact that it's a pirate's wet dream doesn't really encourage that. (We can sign anything to run legit, that alone signed the death warrant.) I think at best, digital distribution via PSN will help. What I posted was the retail UMD releases a little earlier. It doesn't account for anything released via PSN, be it full games, PSOne Classics, Minis, etc. Not that a lot of that content is particularly compelling, but it will still give a little bit of life where there might not have been any.

I'm guessing here in the states that the Nintendo DS is still going strong? I guess the states still has the mentality that video games are still for children since the DS is whipping the PSP's butt. I'm guessing the DS here is still selling a boat load of games? I haven't went to Best Buy lately to see if there's a new game every week or not.

Releases have slowed down, yes, but not to the point that the PSP has. The DS still outsells the 3DS, so there will be new DS games until that changes.

Really? I'd consider that to be in the bottom tier of PSP games. It's not very good at all.
