Resident Evil (Remake) on Gamecube. It's WAAAAYYYY different than the PS1 version. I went into it expecting the same game, but with polished graphics. Dang was I in for a surprise. I can't believe this game is making me just as tense again while playing it as it did back in the day on the PS1. Great stuff!

^ It is indeed vastly different. That game is the reason I bought a GC. Enjoy it, it's one of the best Resident Evil games, if not the best.

I agree, plus the game looks AMAZING. The lighting is fantastic and the zombies have some amazing models.

It looks better than RE4 in my opinion. REmake and Zero are freaking proof that pre-rendered backdrops if done well could look absolutely insane on current gen consoles, but of course we'll never see that...

It's a damn shame that Capcom simply ported RE2-3 over to the Cube (overly priced ports at that) and didn't give them the REmake treatment. I like the atmosphere in RE2 the most, you just keep going further and further underground like Metroid or something, it was so awesome. RE3 had good atmosphere as well just being in that huge city alone, kind of felt a little like Half-Life 2 to me.

I still love the original PSX version of RE though, as you guys have said up against the REmake they're different enough. Plus RE has the most epic intro and voice acting ever, can't beat the charm. And you gotta love how Wesker pretty much dies in the original version, haha whoops? Heh.

Funny as huge of an old RE fan that I am, I still haven't beaten the original game through Chris' story. Gotta try that someday.

Giving RE 2 and 3 the same treatment as REmake would have definitely been a costly endeavour. Probably a profitable one, but definitely costly. What I'm getting at is I can see why they didn't. A REmake 2 and 3 would have been completely amazing though.

I'm with you, RE on PSX is definitely one of my favorite games of all time. I can't deny that REmake is the better game though. I also love the opening. That part where they introduce the characters will forever be ingrained in my mind. It's probably the best bit of live action in a video game I've ever seen.

Definitely play the game with Chris. Although not as different as playing RE 2 with Claire/Leon, it's a pretty different experience that's totally worth playing.

Yeah, I did the reverse run in RE2 since that game is so easy to blast through in mere hours if you know what you're doing. Didn't Veronica have different playthrough's as well? I only beat that one once though, not my personal favorite (now that one had TONS of backtracking), but still a solid game.

Next time I replay RE1 and REmake I'll have to play as Chris.

I've also actually never finished RE0 either, I got to the second disc once and quit. But I really enjoyed it despite some fans not liking it, I just got burned out at the time since I literally marathoned RE1-3+Veronica+REmake and then Zero once, so I guess I was a little tired by then. haha.

More people need to play Final Fantasy II (the real 2). I've been playing the PSP version and it's just downright awesome, can't believe I've held out on it all this time up until now. It's got so many obvious parallels and influences that go into FF4-6 it's crazy, and the leveling system / customization on the PSP version is really fair and addicting at times. It's challenging enough and I love how the world is pretty open. Amazing music as well, incredibly different from Uematsu's normal stuff... which just adds more of a unique flavor to the whole experience. I'm having a blast with it.

So it's still good even though you have to have the monsters attack you on purpose to gain higher HP? Or is that done away with in the PSP version?

Not really, but it just... works, it's fair to me and I've seen several random HP/stat ups from time to time without taking damage or whatnot, so maybe they just really balanced the PSP version or tweaked it a lot to be playable, lol. I'm honestly digging the leveling system a lot.
