Not really. In fact, I don't think they are even making the one with the computer port on the top anymore.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Other than the obvious games like shmups and fighters, here are a few games that are generally not reliant on text and/or have a lot of English text:

Rockman X3 (most prefer the SNES version, but this is much cheaper)
Rockman X4 (cheaper than the NTSC-U release, but the PSX release is very cheap)
Assault Suit Leynos 2
Virtual On
Capcom Generations 1-5

Beat em ups
Tenchi wo Kurau II
Guardian Heroes
Nekketsu Oyako
Crows

I got Saturn Bios Chips, that make the system region free.
For games I would have to agree with shmups and fighters.
PSone, Xbox, PS2, DC, SS Mod Service, PM for details

Right, they don't. I was just curious if there was an advantage to getting the one with the slot over the newer one with out.

The ones with the port could be flashed to have more cheat codes in them but since there are no new games coming out, it is pointless now. I'm pretty sure all the ones without the port are guaranteed to be the newer revision that works properly with Vampire Savior as well.

This.

GameofYou posted about this a long while back on this very forum. As far as I know, if you send him your PAR he will mod it so that it can be read with his kit.

I still want one of these things.

Cool thanks for the info. I was considering trading for one with a port but $23 shipped from play asia is hard to argue with. Since there is no real advantage on the older ones vs new I think I'll do that.

Thanks guys.

The ability to download saves to your PC... (though like the link shows, it ain't cheap!)

Eh, while its nice I don't think i'd end up doing it. I just want to play the occasional import.

I did think about it though.
