^ Awesome! Even when he's on fire and his career is blowing up to Hogan/Austin levels, Punk never forgets where and how he came from!

So, I downloaded the MitB PPV, caught myself up on the PC Punk storyline, and....

....holy shit! This rivals or beats anything I have ever seen before in pro wrestling! Wow.

it's about time. he deserved it for working hard all these years. it's going to be a sold out crowd. :P
Crowd of what though. Sting I see in headlines, but Flair... is he still styling and profiling like he was a few years back?

Or he knows how to act the part. Either case, major props.

I think that's the reason why he's so hot right now. He's appealing to real wrestling fans, the kind of guys who might go to an indie show or a ring of honor. You'll never see Cena do that. You'll never see Cena do an interview on Colt Cabana's podcast either. He just had an interview with Zak Ryder that was awesome. Ryder has a huge collection of wrestling action figures and likes boy bands LOL. He's not that much different from his wrestling persona.

I hate Cena, really, I do. I hated him even when he had his gangster gimmick, which so many fans like to say they liked (but not the PG-Cena). But even though I think he's a pathetic wrestler, and far from the best the WWE roster has to offer, I can't agree with you. I think Cena would do those sort of things if asked of him by WWE and be happy doing it. (which CM Punk is being asked to do this to further the storyline. I applaud WWE for going this far)

Cena would do whatever was asked of him by the WWE. He always has. He goes to all the events, he does all the autograph signings, he goes to all the Tribute to the Troops events, he visits sick kids in hospitals, he stops and signs autographs after shows. He may not be far from the best in the world like WWE makes him out to be, but the man eats, sleeps, breathes, and sweats WWE. He is a company man through and through. That's one things you can't say bad about him.

Punk going to an indie show has nothing to do with furthering a storyline. That's just Punk being Punk. He didn't even mention the WWE or have the title belt with him. Now as for Cena, that's part of the reason I don't like him. He ONLY does whatever the WWE asks him to do. I'd like to see him show up at an indie show just for the heck of it, or do a podcast interview. I've been hearing interviews with so many TNA and WWE guys, even Kurt Angle, but not Cena.

All of the stuff that you just said he does are things that ALL the WWE people do. I find it funny when people say he's so great because he does all of that great PR stuff that everyone in the company is expected to do. The only really special thing he does is having that record for the Make a Wish foundation, and that's definitely cool of him, but what does he really contribute to the wrestling community? I think that's something to think about. Anytime I hear him mentioned by other wrestlers in an interview, there's rarely any sense of familiarity. They always talk about him like he's that guy that makes all the money and gets all the attention that we don't. It's like he's that guy who is too busy being the face of the company to really be a part of the wrestling community. He doesn't go to indie shows, he doesn't do podcast interviews, he doesn't hang out with the guys, he doesn't do much of anything besides what Punk said, kissing higher up's asses

Cena does those things far more than the average wrestler and always does it proudly. That's why he's always mentioned for it.

And CM Punk IS doing it because the WWE asked him to. It's all part of the current storyline. His appearances have even been put up on WWE.com. That's why he challenged Triple H at Comic Con. Storylinewise he's fired, but in real life he's still collecting money from Vince.

Regardless of what's kayfabe or not - Punk has consistently made excellent showings the past few years, regardless of what turd-factions or stupid rivalries he's been forced to work with. He's obviously just on a well-deserved break. Either way you look at it - he'll be back, and the current storyline is doing a great job of building up for his return. It's nothing new, they do it with Undertaker every year.. Just this time - it's a more interesting and well-worked plot!
