Mario Kart Wii

Post by D.D.D. »

Damn fun~ :D The wheel take about 2 or 3 rounds to get used to and it's a cool way to play. I'm gonna try it with a GC controller to see which I like better. Online tomorrow, I'm too beat after work today.
And the best part about this purchase, it put me over the edge for the platinum member of Club Nintendo... Super free gift get! :D

I got a Wheel for my Wii not too long ago. Haven't used it yet since there really aren't any great driving games out in my opinion. I'm waiting for Mario Kart Wii to hit the US.
Atari 2600 (AV mod), NES, SNES (region switch for PAL), Virtual Boy, Gamecube, Wii (D2CKey), PSX (Stealth V), PS2 (independence exploit w/ 160 GB HDD), Goldstar 3DO, Philips CD-i, Dreamcast, Saturn (racketboy's chip), Sega Genesis 2 + CD2 + 32X + Power Base Converter, Game Gear.

When you get a chance, please tell us how it is with the cube controller. While I enjoyed excitetruck, when I tried to play Mario Kart 64 by tilt it never clicked.

Hey, I just played this in Gamestation who were organising 4 player races and it is awesome. I chose Toad and a bike and managed to win my race. For my efforts I won a wii wheel shaped key ring and I was 3rd on the leaderboard so I stand a chance of winning a bag of niknacks.

Great game though and I was surprised at how well the wheel worked

MKW is so damn fun! My g/f and I have been playing a lot online, 2players, with 10 others usually, and I've had no lag at all; and that's with half Europeans and half here in Japan. I've seen Germany, Italy, Spain, France, England, etc. It's pretty cool.

So far, I'm not really good with the wheel but it's fun - I'll give it more time later. However, I quickly switched to the nunchuk n wiimote combo and I was instantly better. I've done most of my games with that combo.

I've played a bit with the classic controller and cube controller and I really don't like how the jump boosts are done (plus pad) compared to the flailing of the wiimote, but I got used to that quicker than the wheel. It's odd, I got used to Excite Truck instantly but the wheeling in MKW is harder or perhaps not what I'm used to. The cube has the nicest rumble though and the classic has the easier plus pad to hit for the mid-air stuff.
Of all the 5 ways to play MKW from current fav to least fav: nunchuk + wiimote, classic controller, cube, wheel, and plain wiimote.

I seriously think this is my favorite Mario Kart of all time now. The online battle mode of the SNES level 4 brought back so many xband memories, the creative courses, and just great fun makes this my favorite version yet. MKW, MKDS, SMK, MKSS, MKDD, and MK64 would be my MK favorite order~
Anyhoo, back to unlocking more stuff~ Everyone should pick this up! :D

I am highly skeptical of this title yet being a strong Mario Kart supporter it appears to be too much of a rip on Double Dash. Like a lot of Wii titles from Nintendo which are GCN updates. You impressions sound positive though. Its a pity that us Australians don't get this game with the Europeans as Nintendo did this to substitute for the Smash Bros delay. So everyone wins but Australia, no surprises then.

Do you think that the game is limited in options/tracks?

Got it on launch day (11th april/yesterday) here. Haven't played it yet though as I went straight to the pub after buying it and never came out until 2 this morning and today i've been at work. Will be playing in about an hour and half once I get home! Can't wait.

I've heard that US can't play with Europe over wifi connection is that right?

We should post our wii codes so we can all play together sometime!

I highly doubt that as I can play SSBB with US players; why would they take that out of MKW?
All my online races & battles have been 100% lag-free and all of my races have had people in Europe and Japan and that's some serious distance no matter what way around the world you go. So I can't imagine that from the UK to the US, which is a shorter distance, being more troublesome than Japan to Europe.

And to say how damn fun this game is, I logged 8 hours total on it yesterday.

It's sweet. The only thing I don't like is how much it rapes your points if you come last because you got completely spammed with power-ups on the last lap. I had 3/4 wins in a row last night, then got really unlucky on Rainbow Road, got shelled, knocked off, got back on then some B£$%@!$ hit me and knocked me off again! Went straight from 1st to 12th on the 2nd to last corner. Lost over 100 points instantly!! Which is highly annoying when you only get about 36 points for a win.....

BTW my MKW code is 4081 5672 5965
