Re: USPS lost my XBOX (suggestions needed)
I've never had anything lost, but I have had stuff beat up. Nothing against UPS, but the guy that used to deliver to my area litterally threw packages, kicked my dog, and called me things I cannot repeat. The time he kicked my dog I threatened to shoot him. NOBODY KICKS THE DOG! Nobdoy touches the dog, nobody even looks sideways at the dog, without me pulling the gun.
Also, the new guy is great, comes and talks to me, doesn't kick my dog, lets me sign without cussing at me... But where I live, stuff gets left on the gate post all the time, and goes untouched. Of course, the dog helps with keeping people off my stuff. I also have great neighbors that watch my stuff when I'm away, because they are early retirees that live across the street.

Re: USPS lost my XBOX (suggestions needed)
Between ebay music purchases and Racket, I have a fair number of items going in and out. Generally I don't have an issue most of the time either. It really is amazing how many packages post offices handle every day. That being said, I just finally got a coffee mug via Priority Mail yesterday the sorting facility apparently lost it for 5 days before sending it on its way.

Occasionally packages get beat up. Just make sure an item is packed for protection, especially when using slower methods like Parcel Post. The longer it is in transit, the more time it has to get a little roughed up. It is just going to happen when that many packages must be sorted and moved around.
As far as your missing item, I assume this was just delivery confirmation for the 'tracking'? All that really does is give you a vague idea of when it passes points on its journey, and when it was delivered. That helps show you that the seller sent 'something' and the seller knows with relative certainty that it was delivered to the address written on the package. If insurance wasn't purchased for the item, honestly the post office isn't going to really do a lot. Hopefully it is just hung up somewhere like my mug was and it will eventually get to you.

Re: USPS lost my XBOX (suggestions needed)
I had a couple of FreeMcBoot card related shipping incidents. The first time, some forum member sent me a card and I never got it. This was the first time I had a shipping issue. He sent another card which I received and he got it back. About 2 months later, his original card showed up at my house. We had gone on vacation and had our mail held and delivered when we got back. I wonder if his package was in the "mail hold" slot all this time? I asked the local post office but they had no clue. I made the card and he got it back just fine.Ziggy587 wrote: One of my first transaction ever on eBay, the seller shipped out the item to me via USPS and it got past the point where it should have arrived. I forgot all about it and it came in the mail one day. Must have been at least 2 months.
Another time, a different forum member sent me a card. He included a regular envelope with stamps to get it shipped back. It's not my recommended way to ship a PS2 memory card. So I put the card in my mailbox Saturday morning after the mail has already been delivered. That day, my daughter had a birthday party sleepover with a few of her friends. The next day, I see that my mailbox is open, with the mail pickup flag up but there was nothing inside the mailbox. WTF?!! I asked my wife about it and she said that it's by the door. WTF?! Apparently the girls were playing flashlight tag at night and one of her friends opened the mailbox and then opened the letter. WTF! Gawd, that girl is nosy and doesn't know to leave other people stuff alone. I have caught her rummaging through paper/stuff in our house before. So I put some packing tape to cover up the slit on the envelope where it was opened and put it back in the mailbox.
A few days later, the forum member sent me a PM that he received the envelope but no card in it. The envelope had a slit in it. Shit! Immediately, I thought maybe the tape came off and the card fell out? I told him about my story and asked if the tape came off the slit or something. He said that he had wondered about that but no, this was a different slit. The tape was still on the envelope and was intact. That sucks. It appears that someone stole the card out of the envelope or maybe it came out somewhere in the sorting process? He also sent me another card, this time with a bubble mailer and it went through just fine.

Actually "Mail Carrier" is the proper term. Fucking seriously?! I've heard of this stuff happening before but not through my office. That's a HUGE issue right there. Glad it sounds like it got resolved.

Yeah, thick or solid things shouldn't go in normal envelopes. The sorting machines use rollers and curved tracks to feed them along, scan that funny barcode across the bottom, and sort them into piles for sending out to the general area where they need to go.gtmtnbiker wrote:*ps2 cards in envelopes*
If there's something thick or inflexible in there, it can jam the machine or might get stuck while a roller that's trying to push the envelope along grinds on the thick item for a moment. Then someone's gotta go pull the item out. Older think manuals like those for the NES are the only things one should really try to send in an envelope. Even then I'd put some food box cardboard in there with it to protect it from being bend too much, but is still flexible enough for the sorting machines.
It's possible that the slit that let that PS2 card out of the envelope was from a roller chewing on it until it fell out.

Re: USPS lost my XBOX (suggestions needed)
I don't think your XBOX is "lost". Parcel post is your problem. There is a reason why it's always the cheapest option. Parcel post does not travel the way letter mail and most other options do. Parcel is how USPS ships really huge and/or heavy stuff. Most likely it's in a truck that is halfway full, and they aren't going to deliver that truck until it is all the way full, because that's why parcel is so cheap. Also be prepared for your XBOX to have had its ass kicked by being shipped with much, much heavier items.
No one should ever use parcel post for anything. Especially anything that is the least bit fragile. And it takes forever.

but if you send the envelope as a Parcel and not an Envelope, they won't stick it through those rollers. Costs a little more, but is a lot safer.

I once had a package no-show well outside the allotted time , filed a claim, got a refund and badabing, the package showed up. I emailed the sender, he lost interest in pursuing it further, long story short: Free stuff. Fucks yeah!
