SS Controller mystery

just curious... is the white pad a US gen one (larger size) or the jap-matched ones that came out later?
Im just picturing how fucking awesome a gen one US controller would look in white! I love those controllers.

maybe you got sausage fingers and keep pressing it on accident?

If you've swapped the cable out then it's gotta be internal, or a compatability issue.

if i losen the top to screws near the triggers this "ghost pause" goes away.... tighen and it comes back.

Then the pressure on the controller with your supporting fingers might be squeezing the controller toghther and casuing the pad area for the select button to activate the trigger on the circut board. When pressing up you put alot of pressure on the top of the controller that is already being pressured by the tightened screws. You may be able to put a liquid plastic in the screw holes so you don't have to tighten them as much or you might put a small spacer on them. Maybe the screw holes are just a little worn out.

Oh, my bad I missed the pics.

I had problems with an import controller too. (buttons and d-pad worked sometimes) I just tossed it and went to my local vintage video game store and picked up a beautiful US gen one pad for $10.

Did I mention that I love that model. The feel, the look. Can't imagine using anything else for a capcom fighter!

those pads aren't worth it to even be called official.

be more specific.

Part of why I love them may be the nostalgic factor. They were what I used back when I was 13, but they also feel a lot less janky to me and Ive never had any problem with them. I also prefer the look.

Ive only owned one of those import models, but I always let the guest use it because it just didn't feel right to me. Eventually the buttons quit working and I tossed it.

Prob just different experiences but I'm curious why they "arent worth it to even be called official".

He's probably referring to the problems users regularly experience with broken or flaky L and R triggers. The buttons and dpad are just dandy, however.
