PS3 getting Rune Factory: Tides of Destiny

Post by Opa Opa »

What's up guys and gals?

Thought I'd let y'all know that the PS3 is getting its first Rune Factory game. If you're unfamiliar with Rune Factory it is a spin-off series from the ever popular Harvest Moon series. It keeps the farming-sim elements but adds action-rpg gameplay. You get to explore dungeons, kill monsters, and... well... you know what an rpg is comprised of.

(Let's play "Find The Man" really quick. Can you look at the image above and guess who it is? I honestly don't know, myself. I think it's supposed to be the person holding the bucket. All this gender-neutral character design makes me want to puke. Anyways...)

Its release date is projected to be around the fourth quarter so you could probably expect it to come out in November/December.

I know the Harvest Moon fan-base is kinda thin these days (and probably for a few damn good reasons) but I thought I'd share this with everyone. Oh, and it's also coming out for the Wii but the PS3 release is bigger news considering the Wii already has a few Rune Factory titles.

-Peace.

I'll look into it. I've really never gotten into Harvest Moon, but adding ARPG elements could make this fun.

If you're really not into the cutesy-anime b.s. that they are pouring over into every H.M. game; it isn't for you. However, they do have a decent mix of sim/action gameplay if you can overlook the art design.

Look up some gameplay vids and be the judge. Although, a word of warning, almost all Harvest Moon games start off really, really slow.

Welcome, sir, to the modern-day Harvest Moon series. I think you'll enjoy your stay.

yeah I've heard the tite Rune Factory before, had no idea what it was or that it was related to Harvest Moon. I played Harvest Moon GB, and found it relaxing for like 20 mins, but boring after that.

But this:

is in the same game as this:

so I'll probably end up getting it! 8)

I actually just got this to be able to get the "classic" Harvest Moon experience that I like.

Yeah, I can barely tolerate that.
The gameplay looks solid, though.

Here's a pretty cool image.

This game is sounding a lot cooler. You use this giant to raise islands and ships out of the ocean.

Growing turnips + Giants + ocean travel = hella tight.

I might have to put up with the art style to play this.
