The store I got them from mostly sells womens clothing, cheap jewelry, and kitchenware. They do have a small book and computer software section, which usually only seems to have uninteresting romance paperbacks, old cookbooks, and software such as Encarta and old TurboTax versions. I wasn't even in the store to look for videogames at all since they never have any, but rather to check the book section for anything interesting. The TG-16 games were on a shelf labeled "CD's", apparently on the basis that the shape of the boxes could be mistaken for CD cases. At $15 a pop, I did not have enough cash on me to purchase them, cash being the only accepted payment at this store. The only times I've ever seen anybody under the age of 40 in this store are little kids with their mothers. How on Earth the games came to be there I'll never know, but it was very clear to me that the store had no idea what they had, and that the games might have been there for some time. Even though the chances of somebody else picking up the games were slim, I still felt it wise to get them while I had the chance.elmagicochrisg wrote:On the other hand, if a professional seller doesn't know what he's selling, fuck him. Nowadays, information is just a click away. I say the guy did well, even if his methods are a bit unorthodox...final fight cd wrote:yeah, that is kind of shitty.FiftyDollarCurse wrote: Cool finds, but I do not approve of your methods.
What does surprise me is that some other posters on here think what I did was unethical, when I consider it to be mere negotiating. So I pose a question: had you been there, would you have either 1) told the store clerk about the real value of the games , 2) just pay the full amount, but only get some of the games and come back later with more cash, or 3) bargain/negotiate/convince the price down to a real bargain price that would allow you to buy all of them, knowing you could easily resell them later? The sealed games were Military Madness, Bravoman, Neutopia, and Ninja Spirit; and the boxed but opened games Championship Boxing, Dead Moon, and Tiger Road, fwiw.
