Re: Has anyone every given up collecting?
I haven't even started yet compared to most... I have, all together, about 50 games. If that. My recently bought N64 dissapointed me wiht the amount of titles I wanted, but now, I'm glad it only has at most 15 games I want. I'd prefer a small meusem of great art compared to a large meusem of 'modern' (crap) art.

n64 is a good console to collect for
, its like a hibrid... does 3d graphics on a cart while their competitors satrun & psx are using disc.
neg part of n64 collection: they came in cardboard boxes like the snes so its very hard to find great games complete.
Yea im starting to collect for n64 and snes now and its not easy to obtain the good games and boxes in decent quality.
note: im really taking a liking to the gold n64 its so beautiful

I love my Ice Blue console. It's beautiful. I've asked elsewhere if about a guide for making reproduction boxes, I can get a link if you want. It's here on racketboy. I've really been interested in repro boxes.

Re: Has anyone every given up collecting?
I'm new to this forum but I'd like to share my toughs about collecting. I'm reaching about a hundred games and I am facing doubt in front of my collection. First, how the hell do I got all of these? it now seems to me that buying a game as became a no brainer. Second, I certainly don't have time to play all of this... but, man, it's my game collection, if I stop to collect, I will be collecting something else, it's like a dessease (oh, and sorry for my clunky english, my native langage is french (and proud of it)). Third, once you're into this stuff, you get to know more and more about more obscure titles and you will end up wanting them. Plus, working in a used game store don't help either
.
Maybe it's time to get rid of some titles...

«Vectrexes», should be considered as a real word.

Oh, a hundred is deffinetly not bad. I've seen much worse. I know that I personally have a bad habit of grabbing games that I can play through in about 6 hours, that I usually complete over the weekend, or games I get just for multiplayer, which I sell later in the consoles life. Think about games like that? How many do you have?

Re: Has anyone every given up collecting?
Some people defiantly collect games for the sake of collecting, not to really enjoy the games. I have that problem as well, I have 100+ game gear games, and I have not gotten close to completing any of them. Most of the time, I test to see if a game works, then I put the game out of my mind. My parents are hoarders, so I guess that effects my collecting.

Re: Has anyone every given up collecting?
I have no plans to stop anytime soon. I currently have 1500+ games and over 60+ systems and I enjoy finding the next classic game to play!! I do like the benefits of digital distribution via XBLA, PSN, Steam, and cloud gaming services such as OnLive which frees up space on my shelves to keep on collecting but I will always prefer physical media

Re: Has anyone every given up collecting?
I wouldn't say 'given up'. More like 'put off'. My collecting habits tend to shift based on my mood. For instance, I also like to read and watch movies/tv shows and have a decent collection for each interest. But I don't collect constantly for each interest simultaneously either. When I'm in the gaming zone I look for more games to pick up. When I'm in movie mode, I haunt used sellers and Amazon for interesting films. Same goes with books. There can be long pauses between each faze, but I never really stop. Of course, it helps that I don't collect for collecting's sake, but rather to play/read/watch the things I enjoy and interest me. So nothing's really gotten out of hand (Though I recently did have to build some bookshelves for the books. The selves I had before were stacked 2-3 books deep and I couldn't find s*&#

Re: Has anyone every given up collecting?
^Truly the way to collect. I personally try to do this, but I'm bad about getting books I end up not reading. That's why I have become very careful of picking them up. I've also cut my book amount in half lately. On the other hand, I've gotten really interested in comics lately...

Re: Has anyone every given up collecting?
I stopped collecting for PS1 and sold off most of it about 2 years ago, the time I moved onto PS2 collection.
