The Raimi films haven't aged well in the effects department at all, and were a little bit too heavy on the angst.

Still though, I enjoyed them, and obviously a lot of other people did too considering they were plenty successful. Spider-Man 3 was bad, sure, but it wasn't franchise-killer bad. They could've easily patched it up with a director's cut and moved onto a 4th Raimi film.

A reboot is totally unnecessary, but if they're going to do it... tone down the angst, please, and give us a good Venom movie for one of the sequels.

The Spiderman movies were kind of the first modern superhero movies, so it's not surprising that they wouldn't age so well. I used to think they were great watching them in 2004, but now... well, let's just say Iron Man and The Dark Knight blow them out of the water. I'm totally fine with a reboot.

I'm kind of starting to think of comic-book movie reboots, kind of like having the comic drawn by a different artist. That happens a lot right? No biggie, just a different interpretation.

Being modern is very subjective as is the term super hero. I thought Tim Burton's BATMAN completely blew away every other super hero movie, and it still looks great.

Too early to tell with the Spider-Man reboot as the trailer looks like at some point post pro ran out of money.

I'd say the modern superhero movie boom started with X-Men actually.

...and I don't think I'd mind these reboots so much if they didn't feel like they need to tell us the origin story AGAIN.
