Just tried out Mamonoro for the first time. I see myself playing more of this. It's a vertical monitor game but not forced scrolling, you have a time limit though. Very interesting and fun at least on first impression.

Been playing alot of Death Smiles recently. My wife loves it so it's kinda something we try to play together.

downloaded this from PSN last night:

Kyuiin ($5.99)
Kyuiin delivers a highly creative and very clean horizontal scroller. Your flying machine is a vacuum cleaner. Your weapons include sucking up enemies with your hose and whipping them with your cord. This remarkably original title has innovative gameplay and a well-balanced scoring system.
File Size: 131 MB

it's not excactly the most challenging shmup I've ever played, but it is pretty fun. It's got a wacky Parodius feel to it or Cho Aniki. I know I'm not the biggest supporter of downloadable games, but I have to admit that bringing these PS1 imports to PSN and making them playable on both PS3 and PSP is fucking awesome. $6 is a little more (a LITTLE) than I want to pay for digital files, and really I'd be far happier if I got a physical PS3 release with 10 or more of these compiled together. But still. I had never even heard of this one, so I am pleased that these imports are happening.

Dodonpachi Dai ou Jou Black Label

Finally got my mits on this game, and holy crap! Its everything I hoped for and more. Much more my taste than Dai Fukkatsu, although I am still having fun with that one as well.

^1P only? If 2P, does it allow for play w/an online partner? Gawd, I hate downloads, from what your saying, i'd easily pay $20 for a disc, but have a hard time justifying $6 for a download.
