I took apart my Genesis (model 1) the other day to clean it and I should have taken photos because I could have sworn it's been modded in someway, because some things did not look factory. (Or at least I didn't think so.)
When I opened it up there are three wires running to different points, which would be no issue except that the solder joints look done later on (and not well IMO, I redid them) and one of the traces on the main board has been severed, on purpose at some point.
I'm trying to figure out if it's actually been modded, which I think it has been and if so, what did it change? The genesis appears to run like any other I've had so I can't figure anything.
I might take it apart again and take several photos, but I'm just wondering if based on what I've described you could say if it is or not. This is the first Genesis I've opened so I'm unsure.
Is my Genesiss moded?
Re: Is my Genesiss moded?
I've noticed that in stock Sega consoles as well. My 32X had quite a few wires soldered on the board. My HDG model 1 Genesis that I recently got also has some wires soldered, and glued, to the board. I was able to tell it wasn't a "mod" by some one, it was something that Sega had done.

Re: Is my Genesiss moded?
I haven't specifically noticed severed traces before but I have seen plenty of wire jumpers in Gens and other electronics that I'm sure hadn't been modded.
