Worthy of your time?

Post by RCBH928 »

Hi...

i have mystical ninja and perfect dark that i didn't play.

Now I want to know if these games are worth palying.

i am pretty sure that perfect dark was something unheard of when it was out in its time, but it will cost me around 30$ to buy the memory thing for the 64 to play it because I do not own one. Today games like COD4 and gears and halo are very good, is there any worth of this game to play it today in this generation?

The other game is Mystical Ninja....This game got around a 7/10 review. I checked it out and it seems very fun, can you give me any input on this game and is it worth my time?

Mystical Ninja Goemon was a fun title, though definitely not a "Killer App" for the console. If you have the ability to play it, sure, sit down with it and give it a shot. Perfect Dark was actually rather well liked and respected after its release, in part because it is a successor to Goldeneye 007 in terms of design (Goldeneye 007 being one of the most played games on the console). It's actually a pretty solid title with some interesting and innovative weapon designs that have been used pretty often since then. I say, if you have a Nintendo 64 and all the equipment handy, give them both a shot. You might consider looking into other titles that use the expansion pack before opting to pay the $30 to play a single game, though.

Comparing games like Perfect Dark to CoD4 seems a bit nonsensical to me... They are two completely different games from different time periods. As with all retro games, its not the graphics that should sell a game, it's the general experience of playing it. In my opinion Perfect Dark was one of the greatest games on the N64, if not of all time, but graphically it can't hold a candle to CoD4! Really, if you are looking at retro gaming sites and are interested in 1st person shooters, then Perfect Dark is a must play. Look on eBay for a nice cheap 3rd party expansion pack and spend a weekend in a dark room. It'll be well worth the money I can assure you.

Not sure about Mystical Ninja, never played it when it came out, although I was an avid reader of N64 Magazine (imaginative title I know...) who gave it around 86%, so it can't be all to bad. I'd recommend looking at both of them, but I'm a Nintendo fan boy who grew up idolising my N64. God I love that thing. :P

If its Mistical Ninja from the Snes play it!!!!!! definitely!!!. If its the N64 just play it. Its good but not as good as the snes one but its worth it after all. Buy the expansion pack get donkey kong 64 and play perfect dark and donkey kong. In my opinion DK64 was one of the best games of the N64. There were others but DK is on the top 20

While a lot of folks out there loved Perfect Dark, I thought it was pretty cheesy.

i do not mean to compare graphics

but if you think about it, it might take me 10-15 hrs to play COD4 or perfect dark.
to be completely honest, I think COD4 is worth my time more for example and the experience is better, yet...

I found plying mario 64 better than current day platformers and I found that goldeneye007 is better than far cry, even when far cry is superior in graphics. I know this sound weird but it is the reality...

so what i want to know does perfect dark hold up really well on today's standard?
mario 64, bad fur day, goldeneye, zelda all do hold up extremely well...

Perfect Dark gameplay wise holds up well but the visuals are pretty atrocious these days. The frame rate is also pretty bad but if you can look past these minor things then you're in for a treat because the game itself is a joy to play, just as Goldeneye still is. I reckon Goldeneye is a much better game than PD in fact.

Mystical Ninja is one of my favorite SNES games (the list is incredibly long on the SNES) and pretty much, anything made by Konami is gold on the SNES.
PD was a fun game when I got it new back in '98 or '99 (can't remember) and I still enjoyed it on an emulator the other year.

They're both certainly are worth playing~ :D
