I died a lot of missed jumps but only when I was too distracted by incoming enemies to time the jumps correctly. Otherwise, even in those sections with tiny platforms, I would always land right on top of them. I don't know, the controls just felt natural to me. I think I actually prefer Kid Icarus' controls over SMB's, the way Mario keeps on sliding after a jump always bugged me...
I had no trouble with jumping either. I could nail quite precise jumps. Pressing down and falling through the floor, on the other hand :P

It's actually a bit more responsive on my PSP JNES Emu than on the PC. Maybe it's just having proper buttons and a d-pad? I'm gonna finish the game (using save states) but it's not turning out to be the most enjoyable gaming experience haha.

Either way, we've been playing it for almost a week, so everybody has gotten a good handle on it. In a couple of days, we'll switch to a new title. Either way, I'm glad I had a reason to go back and play this.

A couple of days? I dunno about that soon.
We still have to put everything together for the next one...
If you're tired of this one, maybe you should try the sequel for the Gameboy and let us know what you think :)

Ah, I figured we'd only be spending about a week on each game. Either way, I'll give the sequel a shot.

That was kinda the original thought, but between the fact that not everyone gets started on the games right away, has the time to play them a bunch right off the bat, and the fact that I don't want every blog post to be a Together Retro post, I think two weeks may be the minimum.

Also, like we've mentioned before, deeper games like RPGs will take like a month or so.

Yeah, a week is just about too short for any game. I know some of you are either under employed or have too much free time, but some of us have very little time for gaming, and this setup gives us an impetus to sit down and try new (or old) things at a more leisurely pace.

In this case we need to pace toward the slower players, not the faster ones, because otherwise it becomes too easy to leave players in the dirt. That and the work of putting together new entries could get overwhelming.

Two weeks as a general rule sounds good. I'm one of those slow people as far as Kid Icarus is concerned. Got started right away but stalled out. I'm even on vacation! Other things come up though. Defender was more of a bite sized game in comparison. "Extra credit" suggestions for early finishers is a good idea.

Yeah, I think I'll try to toss in those extra credits from the start when I can.
Thanks!
