Re: The Wrestling Thread
So many epic promos lately, here's the Rock ripping Cena a new one. This is the "knockout punch" Cena was always talking about, except he's the guy who just took it on the chin. This promo perfectly sums up why everyone hates Cena and why he's not even in The Rock's league. I heard some people calling in about this on a wrestling podcast and they all pretty much agree that the Rock hit every nail on the head. He perfectly sums EVERYTHING that is wrong with Cena. Between Rock and Punk, it's amazing just how much Cena is getting verbally ripped to shreads lately. Perhaps a change is coming? One can only hope

Re: The Wrestling Thread
It's an awesome promo, and you're right - Rock definitely outlines just about everything that makes Cena such a terrible champion. My only hope is that Vince was paying attention to this, because Cena is just not cutting it as the good-guy champion the company wants everybody to get behind.
A part of me really wants Cena to succeed. It's clear he and the WWE are targeting a new, younger generation of wrestling fans by going PG and making the champion a babyface patriot that's basically Superman with a degree in "what-have-you-anomics". When Vince took over for his father in the early 80's, he did the same exact thing with my generation. It brought about countless talent - "Supafly" Jimmy Snuka, Hulk Hogan, Macho Man, Ultimate Warrior, Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat etc, etc, etc....
But Hulk and the other babyfaces had something that Cena will probably never have - a great heel! Everybody remembers Macho Man and Steamboat's legendary wars in the ring. Same with Undertaker and Kane. And don't even get me started on Hogan in the 80's... Who has Cena wrestled that's legitimately given him a run for his money? The Rock is the most interesting matchup he's had yet - And Rock's not even a full-timer with the company! Cena could be a good champ, but like every great rivalry, he needs a memorable heel. Hell, Shawn Michaels and Undertaker's last two Wrestlemania matches were more of a spectacle than anything John Cena's ever done! And now CM Punk, perhaps the best heel the company has on their payroll, (well, for at least another couple days, unless Jericho comes back,) is facing off against Cena for the title at MitB. It could be the epic showdown not just WWE and the fans want, but Cena needs. But instead, the WWE is going to have yet another predictable Cena win, let Punk go on hiatus, and us fans can only await Rock's "surprise" public bitchslapping of Cena.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
All I can say is I agree with you Gamerforlife and Rurouni_Fencer tenfold. I keep up with some of the events through a few friends of mine and am kind of anticipating this Rock stuff (and they were saying that Rock promo was pretty legit real stuff he had to say), and yeah. If change is in the air, perhaps wrestling will win back me and millions of other fans. But I'm not too hopeful about it.
The spinner belt is the worst, I hate Cena, and I think the two world titles thing is a huge issue as well, along with the split division. Sure it gives wrestlers more flexible times, but surely they could just not book everyone twice a week and go back to everyone being on both shows.
But yeah, just a hardcore Attitude Era fan all the way here... so what do I know. Impact looks outright horrible (I've been watching some of the Hogan, Bischoff, Sting promo's lately), and there's nothing about WWE right now that has the potential to pull me back in.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
yeah, but at the cost of TWO RKOs on the announce table.. I really enjoy Orton when he goes crazy like this..
I really hope they don't go for the angle it looks like they're going right now.. I really see Punk winning the match - he's way too over! But now that Alberto Del Rio is the winner of MitB, I guess they're gonna have him take the belt right after Punk wins it, before he can take it with him...
Calling it right now...

Re: The Wrestling Thread
Yeah, that would be lame. Still, if Punk wins he still gets to add it to his list of title wins regardless of weather or not Alberto cashes in on him. Personally, I'd love to see Del Rio cash in and LOSE. That would be historic and would really send Punk out of the WWE looking like an unstoppable MONSTER. I'm not big on Del Rio anyway. I still just see upper midcarder in him, he's just lucky Vince is trying to get a certain demographic with him and Sin CaraRurouni_Fencer wrote:yeah, but at the cost of TWO RKOs on the announce table.. On a related note, Punk had a funny surprise appearance on the latest Colt Cabana podcast
Colt - "I wanna give a shout out to Punk"
Punk - "Hey, Colt"
Colt - "Whoa! Punk is here!"
Punk - "Course I'm here, you're standing in my kitchen"
Colt - "Oh right, I didn't think anyone would notice"

Re: The Wrestling Thread
That was a DAMN good pay per view. Better than Wresltemania! Now I just need to sit down and finally watch Destination X tomorrow. If that pay per view at least had good matches than I'll say that was an awesome month for pay per views
Can't wait to hear what Colt Cabana has to say about Punk's win
Let's not forget Christian though and also.....
DANIEL F*CKING BRYAN IS MONEY IN THE BANK!!!
