Either expanding the "Game Reviews" forum to include non-game reviews or just adding a new section specified "Non-Game Reviews" would work perfectly fine.

To be honest, I was hoping to try writing some amateur reviews very soon and was hoping to not have to limit myself to only video games. And going to any other website simply isn't an option for something like this.
A lot of us do movie reviews in that thread, book reviews in the "books read" thread, etc.

Are you serious? Well now I feel a little stupid for not having noticed...

Something for the Guides Reviews such as Hidden Gems, Games under $10, etc.

Purchase links for EBay and Amazon are listed, why not include a link for the biggest local game supplier Gamestop? A hit and miss which one is cheaper, but a local store that shows what is in stock thru a link provides convenience for someone wanting to try a reviewed game right away while saving on shipping charges.

No, I don't work at Gamestop.

Most of the hidden gems are for older systems that Gamestop no longer carries stock of. With them dumping PS2, GC, Xbox, and GBA recently, there won't be any to find at GS. Ebay and Amazon are still likely to have some of the games in future.

Maybe just any Active systems in Gamestop's database. A tool to help the game collector in deciding availability and prices from different sources. The website still has individual GBA, PS2 and Gamecube games listed.

The way new systems are coming out even my Wii shelf is getting to be obsolete.

I am pretty sure Racket gets referral $ for links to Amazon and (maybe) eBay. I don't know if Gamestop does this.

Besides, Gamestop is evil.

Now before anyone craps on me for this think about it a little first.

Something missing on Racketboy that a lot of other sites have:

A top 100 games list. But I say F the countdown to #1. Plus everyone always disagrees anyways. How about just. Top 200 or 300 retro games list with a small blurb on each an a screenshot or two. Am I crazy to think this kinda thing wouldn't generate a lot more traffic?

I know there quite a few "let's name the top 100 games for X" already in the forums. Maybe this idea is fairly trite but I always love looking down lists especially with images and quick comments and summaries.

What about top X Shmups or Fighters or RPGs? I'm talking cross platform here. Could a unique spin be put on it besides just "Retro" that could set it apart from all the other lists out there?

Maybe I'm just rambling now. I'm sure this has been thought up before and shot down. I also think it's a staple kinda thing magazines/websites do. Edge magazine does it every 5 or 10 years, Game informer, etc.

You answered your own question. Every few months or influx of new people, we get a new round of Top X posts and they're beyond cliche at this point.

avoid cliche by making it "The Top 100 great games you wouldn't expect to normally find on a 'Top 100 great games' list."
