I often LOL at his reviews. I agree with some scores, disagree with others. I always read them in black on white format, or my eyes hurt. He does have a correspondent or 2 (I think he dislikes JRPG's), but the vast majority of the reviews are his.
It's pretty impressive how he stays objective going from reviewing Bioshock one day to some intellivision game the next.

great site, though I either agree with his reviews 100% or disagree 100%, so whatever. But always a fun read. I visit it fairly often.

I also sometimes disagree with him on some games I own or am familiar with, but there are usually nuggets of information that are useful in all of the reviews. I visit and catch up from time to time.

Hard to take this guy seriously when he rates Turok 2 on the same level as Superman 64. Neat site though.

I use Video Game Critic along with Hard Core Gamer 101 and Amazon Buyer reviews. All three seem to be honest unbiased reviews. I also look at comments on games here on the Racketboy Forums and Hidden Gems. Combine all in deciding a game purchase. Unlike sites like Gamepro and IGN, I love how Video Game Critic and Hard Core Gamer cover a wide assortment of systems with bloat free quick page loads. :D

I read the OP and thought I'd never heard of this guy. Then I clicked the link and realized I've probably read through his entire site multiple times over the last decade or whatever. I just looked through a bunch of it last night!
Unlike sites like Gamepro and IGN...
...who are paid off in varying degrees by the companies that made that games they are reviewing.

I hadn't seen his site before but like the style and all the screenshots.

Plus - quick hitters Neo Geo games from someone in North America. Sweet!

Big time bookmark for me.

the thing to remember is that as reviews these are basically just one man's opinions (he has run guest reviews too). But they're not meant to be more than his own opinion on the game he just played. For instance, he admits he hates Invasion From Beyond because it reminds him of the movie Mars Attacks, which he also hated. It's more a personal journal than anything else. So if you keep that in mind, then you can't really get pissed if you disagree. Either way, it's always an interesting read and you have to admire the amount of work he's put in.

I noticed, after reading a few reviews today, that he does show an ignorance of information (ie. wondering why Alien Crush could get away with using art so similar to the Alien movies, when some research would have shown that the art designer for the movies also designed the art in the games). He even says a few things that are flat out false (ie. claiming that the TG-16 version of Bomberman was the original in 1991). Heck, he gave Alien Crush a "D" rating because he didn't like the screen flipping after praising the graphics, sound and control. The rating really make no logical sence. He gave Devil's Crush an "A". :?

Still, his site is an entertaining read about his personal thoughts on games he's played for various amounts of time.

I hate those inconsistencies, too. I remember in his review for Darius Gaiden, he said that it was "nice to finally see a SHMUP on the Saturn, after seeing so many on the Genesis". That was a paraphrase, but still, that was so bad it almost felt like trolling. :?
