I really don't understand the hatred of the Twilight movies. They're definitely corny enough to be fun to watch. I saw the first Twilight film opening night at an art cinema that served alcohol. I was one of, like, three guys in the theater along with a large crowd of grown women. Everyone was drinking, laughing, and having a great time.

I don't see how you can watch the school science lab scene and not get a chuckle, or the bit about vampire baseball. It's not that different in a lot of ways to Above the Law. It fills a similar niche within a different genre.
I could never swallow my principles hard enough to bring me to watch Twilight. I will seriously watch MLP, The Smurfs, Rainbow Brite, and The Care Bears before I will bring myself low enough to watch Twilight. In fact, I think I'd even start reading Final Fantasy and Sonic the Hedgehog fanfics first. The whole thing revolts me.

I watched the first Twilight. Kristen Stewart's a good looking lady. It wasn't horrible.

I don't understand the hate Twilight garners either. I've never watched them out of indifference really. What's the fuss about, exactly? Limewater mentions them being cheesy, are they just really lousy movies or something?

Best I can figure is that it basically has to do with folks being insecure about their own sexuality.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. And it was fantastic. Alan Rickman stole the show with his performance of Snape.

Heh Twilight. One of the trailers before HP was for a film that one of the Twilight actors is in and pretty much the entire theater booed thinking it was a Twilight trailer at first. XD

My (and for a lot of others too) hate for Twilight comes from how young girls idolize Edward and Bella's "relationship" and want to find their own "Edward" when it is in fact a very toxic and abusive one. That and the novels are full of TERRIBLE writing.

“Harry Potter is all about confronting fears, finding inner strength, and doing what is right in the face of adversity. Twilight is about how important it is to have a boyfriend.”

Painfully true...

If I used one word to describe her writing style, it would be clunky. And that's being polite I think.

I don't have any beef with Twilight other than people being obnoxious about their obsession with it. But the writing in the books is not up to par. Its the sort of thing that has me surprised someone was willing to publish it. More so that its not as a "young adult" novel.

There's also the whole abusive relationship thing that was mentioned above, which is one of the biggest criticisms the series gets.

People like what they like and all, its none of my business, but this is one of those cases where I just don't understand the appeal.

Toxic, sure, but abusive? I don't really see how.

This may be total crap, but I don't think Twilight encourages girls to seek out horrible relationships. Rather, it expresses the fantasies teenage girls already have. It's wish-fulfillment fantasy the same way Commando is for young guys. If Bella didn't want Edward watching her sleep, it would have been horrific and creepy. Since she did, it was really romantic and stuff. I don't pretend to completely understand it.

*Climbs out from under a rock* I just found out TEMPLE OF DOOM is a prequel to ARK. Am I the only person on Earth who didn't know this?
