So I had a half day at work and got lunch with my roommate at Applebees in the downtown Hacienda Crossing shopping center. The gamestop there is VERY profitable and right next to a 21 screen Imax movie theater.

I take a leftover birthday giftcard with me after lunch, and upon heading inside see that they have shipped out ALL of their used ps2 games! :x

Thankfully, Game X Change seems to be spreading out as of late.

Seems like there are a lot of Disc Replays around too.

Maybe call around? Certain locations are receiving PS2 games from other stores, designated to still carry PS2 games. I can see PS2 games are numbered though.

I stopped at one of mine. All of the games were either in the rolling hellpits of "OMG $20 and under" or yellow sleeve. No more on the walls and even the floating vertical shelves weren't being used anymore. Definitly the last gasp. I saw nothing worth me saving.

All three of my local gamestop (one is a Software Etc ) stores still have a lot of PS2 games and a ton of discs in sleeves. They've been getting some rare games like persona 3 and 4, and even the 4th .Hack game. Everything is marked up to market value but it appears strong here in southern oregon.

Personally, I see this as a good thing. With the major retail chain (Gamestop) shutting out the retro crowd more and more these days, it'll open up the markets for the employee owned local shops. Personally I've never been a fan of Gamestop's corporate approach to the gaming world and have always preferred the local guys.
Currently owned; Colecovision, Master System, TG-16/CD, SNES, Genesis/CD Mk1/32X, Saturn, Dreamcast, Jaguar/CD, Xbox, Wii, and PS3!!!

Dreamcast Tracker; 209 of 248 NTSC-U games collected.

My B/S/T Thread; http://www.racketboy.com/forum/viewtopi ... 22&t=31756

Also, if anyone has the case art for Popful Mail (Sega CD), I'd like to speak with you!

I understand your opinion, but here is something for you to also consider.

In the SF Bay Area where I live with lots of other members, it is VERY expensive to start up and operate a private owned business and actually make money. Gamestop is EVERYWHERE out here. I have three stores all within 10 minutes of my apartment, and there used to be a fourth until a second shop in the mall got closed that used to be an electronics boutique. I have to drive at least half an hour to find a decent private shop, and they even struggle to offer competitive pricing because of their expenses.

And that's what eBay, Amazon, and Half.com are for. I love to hunt for games in a physical shop, it is more satisfying, but at least we have these websites nowadays. Back in the 90s, it was tough.
