I hear ya. I like really bad awful movies/shows if there are still things to laugh at; a big reason I love Full House, but then again it's self-aware that it is bad.

But some movies/shows are just awful. SUCKERPUNCH is pretty awful. It is Deuce Bigalow European Gigolo bad where you're sitting down wondering "why the hell am I even watching this shit?". 2011 just hasn't been a great year for movies yet. I'd rather mow my yard then watch the majority of 2011 films. That said, SUPER 8 and HOP were fun. THOR was okay, but there hasn't been a knock out drag out great film this year.

well I'll let you know when I see it. I'm gonna see it for free on a nice big screen in air-conditioning, so yeah. I don't know what Super 8 or HOP is? Thor looks crap to me.

THOR is cheese. Fun cheese though. Very Ditko-esque and the first two acts are actually really well written. It's fun while still being coherent.

SUPER 8 is a film that will remind you of Amblin films from your childhood. Great actors, great action, in a kind of GOONIES meets ET atmosphere It reminds you that we need more kids as lead actors.

HOP is a film about the Easter Bunny, of sorts. Very well written and although not a classic, it's worth multiple viewings.

I would only discourage seeing a movie if I thought my opinion was just and I believed I would stop someone from wasting their time. That said, a bad movie doesn't mean you'll have a bad time, but I would really avoid SUCKERPUNCH and THE GREEN LANTERN. I'd rather play Pit Fighter on the snes for hours than watch either of those movies.

oh Super 88888888! Right! Yeah. Ok.

Green Lantern looks crap too.

Again. I'll let you know what I think after I see Sucker Punch. I've already set it my head I wanna see it months ago. And I will for free. So I won't really be swayed otherwise.

It's like Nightmare On Elm Street remake. My wife saw it first and told me I'd hate it. She knows me well. She's watched LITERALLY hundreds (if not thousands) of horror films with me. BUT I had to see for myself. Sure enough I hated it. But at least I know that I hated it and didn't stop myself from seeing it based on anyone's opinion but my own.

^Yup. If you like it, you like it and that's all up to you.

I'm just saying I don't think you'll like it but I can't wait to hear your opinion on it. And far be it from me to say "don't go to a free movie", because I'm all for people watching more movies.

I will be watching the SEARCH FOR ANIMAL CHIN tonight. It's been been way too long since I've seen a Powell Peralta movie .

Visually Sucker Punch is interesting...the plot's not exactly coherent, and the visuals amount mainly to a bunch of CG splash and dash. It's interesting to see what they do with it, but beyond some good ideas, it could have been better.

I agree with Luke that Thor was enjoyable as a popcorn flick, the kind you turn your brain off to enjoy. It's not cerebral, but I didn't really expect that from a comic book film based around a thunder god. I've not seen too many other films in theater in this, but in general if I liked them at all, it was on the same level of Thor.

I'm hoping Captain America is good, but I expect it'll be another popcorn flick...which admittedly won't bother me too much. Cowboys and Aliens interests me because of who all is in it, so I'll check that out. Harry Potter is...well, Harry Potter, so I'll probably be dragged along by friends and my girlfriend. After that, I don't remember if there was anything else this summer I was really looking forward to...

Damn. In Racketboy-dom usually Ack and I see eye to eye. Maybe it's the full moon, at least that's what I will blame our current disagreeing on. I'll admit I love cutting edge effects, but I won't admit it makes a film worth seeing. WATCHMEN is better on paper. I said it. 300 is really dumb. I said it. SIN CITY apart from really awesome top notch boobs, is a sad shadow of the comic series. I own all of the movies, and still watch them, but riff on them with friends. They just aren't good movies. Entertaining? Yes. Good? Dear Lord no.

Being "Good" and being "Entertaining" are two totally different things. I think CAP will be both, but until I see it I can only speculate. But I have seen a few movies this year and SUCKER PUNCH was neither good nor entertaining in any fashion, it's just bad. THOR was stupid, at sometimes slap your face stupid, but was "entertaining", and in some ways "good". As I mentioned I like poking fun at movies, but THE GREEN LANTERN, much like SUCKER PUNCH just doesn't have any of those moments. They're just bad.

That said, I'm 30 and age definitely fits into the equation (ie THE MUPPET MOVIE looks like shit to everyone who is out of high school). That, and I grew up on bad movies that I love. BLOODSPORT, ROCKYIV, ABOVE THE LAW are masterpieces of good/bad movies. I think the Twilight series could be the next-gen of awful-bad, but some movies just stink.

that's where we disagre Luke. The only thing I look for from my forms of entertainment is well... entertainment. So to me, Sin City was good. Because it entertained me.

Haha, actually I don't think we're disagreeing on Sucker Punch. I'm just not forcefully saying it sucked as much as you are.

I should probably also say that in comic book movies, I do my best to lower my standards.

I watched Insidious with the girlfriend last night. Wasn't bad, and actually had a few creepy moments that were cool.
