Strategy games "aren't contemporary" because it's more difficult to make a high quality bestselling strategy game today than it is to make a blockbuster FPS. It's easier to make another Black Ops than another Starcraft 2.Retrozoa wrote:Strategy games are not contemporary eh? So I guess what they mean is "strategy games aren't a quick million so forget that."BoringSupreez wrote:Strategy games "aren't contemporary" because it's more difficult to make a high quality bestselling strategy game today than it is to make a blockbuster FPS. I think the real problem is that you can't make a strategy game multiplatform.BoringSupreez wrote:Strategy games "aren't contemporary" because it's more difficult to make a high quality bestselling strategy game today than it is to make a blockbuster FPS. Indeed. Apparently works even worse than FPS with a controller.jfrost wrote: I think the real problem is that you can't make a strategy game multiplatform.
Move or Wiimote would help with unit selection and movement orders, but I'd think even some sort of radial menu would still be a poor substitute for a keyboard for all of the commands and shortcuts.

RUSE works extremely well with Move, in fact it's a fantastic substitute to the M&K setup. Although some RTS's work fairly well with a controller (Starcraft 64 was pretty decent, the Command And Conquer games are also pretty good, Darwinia works great with a controller, etc.)Hobie-wan wrote:Indeed. You'd think they'd want to use the license to make an iPad game, since touch works very nicely for RTS, and App store games can sell well.
If they wanted to do a spinoff FPS, they should just say that and be done with it.
Probably more that "RTS games are not popular on consoles, and we wanted to do a console game" is more accurate.
