Gamestop to stop keeping DS cases on used games?
Gamestop to stop keeping DS cases on used games?
So while looking for a used copy of a DS game I found out by calling several stores that Gamestops will no longer be keeping the case/manuals for their used DS games in order to save space.
I was pretty upset to hear this and told them I thought it was an idiotic idea - and they agreed with me but they said it came down from corporate.
Not sure when that started, but it must have been recently since I recall seeing cases the last time I was in a Gamestop. :/
I just can't believe they are willing to toss out perfectly good cases for these games.

Its been going on for awhile, it just been getting worse and worse. At first only a few stores did it then more and more and more. Just like with PS2 games. Soon you want find DS games with cases.
The DS is the worst system to throw away cases for. The carts are so small, they are easy to lose and hard to read when shopping for a game. I understand not printing dummy cases but throwing away original cases and booklets is stupid. And unlike PS2 they aren't going by price point the will throw away everything.

Argh, the more years go by, the more and more I dislike Gamestop. Even just 4 years ago, they were a better store.

Argh. Even though I don't go to GS often, I'd thought about asking them for PS2 cases instead of them throwing them away. Even thinking as far as to offer to 'help' them gut if I could take the cases. Sounds like I need to go ahead and posit the question and include DS games.

I can't boycott Gamestop anymore than I already am. I refuse to support something that is anti video games. You'd think a game store would be pro video games, wouldn't you? That's certainly not the case with Gamestop.
It reminds me of how many internet providers are actually anti internet. Just absurd.

I wish someone would go gut the PS2 etc games just to rescue them. I've mentioned before in other threads that we should try to rescue as many as we can and just keep an inventory of them here. Shit we could offer just cases/manuals we've rescued for just the cost of shipping y'know?

I didn't realize this was anything new. Their selection for games I want is usually too poor for me to really buy anything that much anyway and Amazon is pretty competitive with price. For example I wanted Lunar and Ys I & II for the PSP to play this past weekend while I was away from home. I figure maybe I could just go to GameStop to get the games right then, but did they have the games? Nooo of course not. Bought them on Amazon for SEALED new (not that GameStop "new") for the same price they would have been at GameStop.

And just think when the Sony Vita comes out, GS will probably not keep the used cases for those either since it'll be a card like format just as the DS is (correct me if I'm wrong, that was the last I read) and they don't want it to "take up space".
Argh, I don't even know why I go to GS anymore. Every time I do I end up being driven to Amazon, eBay, or MTC for one reason or another. Wishful thinking I guess.
