Sucks, interestingly enough you can copy over your PS1 files to a PS2 memory card though (on a PS2 of course), just to back them up or something I guess.

PS1 memory cards are usually rather cheap anyway, so it won't hurt you too much to buy yourself one. Make sure it's first party.

What's wrong with third party memory cards? I've never had a problem with any of them.BoringSupreez wrote:PS1 memory cards are usually rather cheap anyway, so it won't hurt you too much to buy yourself one. Make sure it's first party.

We could have a whole thread about that, and I think we have before, but it boils down to: except for a lucky few, 3rd party cards will always fail you one day.Xelyx wrote:What's wrong with third party memory cards? Some people report issues with lost or corrupted saves. Personally, I've not seen this happen any more than with official cards. Usually happens due to dirty connectors, not bad memory.Xelyx wrote:What's wrong with third party memory cards? I've never had a problem with any of them.
There are also reports that some newer PS2 consoles will refuse to recognize most 3rd-party PS1 memory cards, but that doesn't seem to be a concern here.

Re: PS2 memery card on PS1?
I've never had an issue with 3rd party cards either. My first PS1 card was a cheap ass EB one. I wonder if some of the issues can be attributed to yanking cards out while it is writing (when the screen tells you not to), or dirty cards causing connection problems as FP says.
